Hi guys l seem to be missing something when connecting to the serial port.
Having set the serial ports the PC (windows 7) tells me that the port is opened and going to download the channel list but then nothing happens. Am l right if you set the sssp to baud rate say 9600 and auto this should simply download??
I have tried this, serial to serial via null cable and serial to usb same symptoms
any idea's welcome

All your hardware issues aside, shouldn't you be using a USB stick/hdd to download or upload stuff to your box?

This is a reply that Manic01 posted to a simmilar question on a technomate owners forum:
Menu - usb-data transfer-red button upload channel data.
It will save as cndf file to your usb stick.

Hi roadrunner I have have istalled the latest patched software, I have looked for this and don't see anything where you can save cndf to a USB. I see you can upload from a USB

your rs232 problem could be a windows 7 issue, except you never mentioned which flavour you are using, so I would say , probably needs to be pro or ult, not HP or basic
see a full and frank explanation in this spiderbox thread and the links, as its common to all rs232 issues

Lets start from the begining, what are you trying to do? Load a channel list (that you found somewhere) to your box or make a copy of your own on a USB stick?
If you want to load someone elses list you do exactly as you did when loading a patch but select the file containing a channels list ( ending with .cndf) instead of .stb like you did when you loaded the patch. If you want to save your own channel list to the usb stick you do as in my previous post.

roadrunner Starting again
I have installed a new box today and have loaded my channels from the satellites. I am now trying to down load the channels so l can sort them on my pc
I have looked at usb/external devices>USB up/down/filemanager the only red is to select and this takes me to [FTP]

Select upload not download as you would be uploading the list from the box to usb and then press the red button

Why not do all your transfers via your network, assuming you have your box networked? You just need to run STBDaemon on the machine you wish to use as server.

Not really the STBdaemon server software has been working from the very first 5402M1 series its great if your PC/Server where your files are located are in a different room but pointless if everything is in the same room

After you've run it and specified which "Folder" to use you just need to go to IP Settings on your TM and select the file you wish to use. Brilliant, no messing about with pen-drives!

thanks to Thebadger as indicated above it installed ok and able to view video which is great. I have it linked to my NAS drive with music and Video stored. Worked out how the procedure worked.
This is ideal once you understand it
