I'm needing to amend details in cccam.cfg on my mate's Vu+ Duo box, he lives 80 miles away. He's not techy savvy, and hasn't a clue.

Logic says no, you have to be on the same network, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Thanks guys.

You can do it by using an FTP program, but your mate has to open ports 21 & 23 in his router. Problem is that opening ports 21 & 23 leave your mate open to attack, even if his box is password protected.

There are ways to make it more secure, but more complex to set up.

Best option is to switch to OScam where you can specify a parameter so that only your IP has access.

I would say your best option would be to ask your mate to install TeamViewer on his pc ask him to leave TeamViewer running on his pc
he would need to give you his TeamViewer ID & Password

You would also install TeamViewer on your pc,
Your mates ID goes in The Partner ID press "connect to partner" (you will be prompted to add his password)

now you will have access to his pc and can use a ftp programme to access his Box

Thanks for the replies. Some of that is over my head, so he'll have no chance.

Guess I'll have to get him over for A Swans game and bring his box with him.

Your advice is really appreciated.

Which image is he using?
Why not just ask him to email his lines, to you, you put it in a CCcam.fg file, email it back, and talk him through FTP'ing the file into the correct folder.
If using Black Hole you should be able to talk him through loading a CCcam, like CCcam 2.30, installing it, and editing the CCcam.cfg file.
It really is quite simple.

Steve CCcam File Manager this is user friendly, easy to install from a USB Stick

Email him enigma2-plugin-extensions-cccamfilemanager_1.1_mipsel.IPK Zip File

Send the enigma2-plugin-extensions-cccamfilemanager_1.1_mipsel.IPK to a USB stick
Plug USB stick into Receivers USB port
Install Extensions>ok
enigma2-plugin-extensions-cccamfilemanager_1.1_mipsel.IPK>ok (a tick in the check-box will appear)
Green to install
After you install the plugin remember to restart enigma2

Run CCcam File Manager from Plugins or Extensions

Backup CCcam files>ok USB>ok Yes>ok

Get your Mate to email you the CCcam_backup.tar.gz file which was saved to the USB Stick
(this is probably a good time for him to delete the IPK file from the usb stick)

Open the file with 7Zip & edit the CCcam.cfg file & save your changes.

Email your mate back CCcam_backup.tar.gz
he sends it to his USB stick
pops it back in his box
Run CCcam File Manager from Plugins or Extensions

Restore CCcam files>ok select USB>ok Yes>ok

Restart enigma2
Job Done
