check you are getting fta channels using both tuners

also make sure that the feeds are good from the lnb to each of the 2 tuners, no short circuits etc

check the settings for both tuners, where tuner B may need to be set to equal to tuner A

Can you also please tell us which image you have loaded.
Are you using a motorized dish, with twin LNB, or fixed dish set up?

Thanks for reply using fixed dish with quad lnb using black hole 2.1.5

Do I need tuner b set up. Just got 2 cables going into tuner A LNB IN

I've changed setting tuner b to equal tuner a and I've got it record bbc1hd and I switched to bbc2hd but that's the only channel that will show. Baffling

echelon

should have one cable into tuner A lnb input and one cable into tuner B lnb input

the settings should have tuner B equal to tuner A

then try recording bbc1 and switching to bbc2

Now I understand I only have one tuner A with both lnb Going into it. Thought that was all I needed.
But In tuner configuration it shows tuner B.

I find it strange that you dont have a tuner B in the second slot, I thought a duo2 would have twin tuners as standard ?
(my duo1 and solo2 have twin tuners as standard)

I also find the labelling strange, as one should say IN and the other should say OUT (for onward linking to a second sat box) - the top one is normally IN

did you order a duo 2 with twin sat tuners ?

maclee
10-05-2015, 06:56 PM
No just with one. Do I need to order another tuner to be able to record another channel while watching another

echelon
10-05-2015, 07:02 PM
yes and no

yes if they are on different transponders

no if the 2 (or more) channels are on the same transponder

so ideally , YES (channels will tend to be on different transponders)

I have attached a picture of a duo2 with twin sat tuners

Think we're getting there sorry I'm new to all this. I thought by just adding the extra line to tuner 2 it would be able to record another channel. Any idea how much tuner B would be

Nikkas

No. What you have is a dual tuner module in a single unit

I also have a Duo2 and mine has LNB Out which means it is a single tuner in a single unit. I have a second T/C module as a second tuner.

So what tuner do I exactly need to buy to be able to record one channel and watch another. Sorry for being a pain

echelon

afraid I have no idea about prices of tuners , sorry

the tuner you have already should be an IN on the top and an OUT at the bottom

you need a second one fitting into the tuner B slot and then attach the second coax to the top lnb IN on it

then your image will need to be set to 2 tuners , with tuner B equal to tuner A

this will allow 2 (or more) channels to be recorded simultanously or watch one channel and record one (or more) channels at the same time

the caveat on tuners is that the channels need to be on the same transponder for multiple use

having 2 tuners allows to independent channels to be accessed, possibly more , as one will be on coax A and the other on coax B (tuner A and tuner B)

sly plus uses this method to record 2 different channels, OR to watch one channels and record another channel

your picture doesnt make it clear but nikkas may be correct, it may be one twin tuner card but you say you ordered with a single tuner, not twin tuners ?

seems to me that your duo2 is fitted with a twin tuner card already, giving the required 2 inputs

I was expecting it to have 2 separate cards, one in tuner A and one in tuner B with lnb outputs as well

so I believe you already have what you require

Mickha

You have the same receiver as I do, a VU+ Duo 2, the label Tuner A is misleading, as it contains a double tuner,as Echelon has stated.

The VU+ Duo 2 can have up to 4 satellite tuners, 2 in Tuner A, and 2 in Tuner B.

Just run one cable to the top input, and one cable to the second input.

As you have a quad LNB you can always add a second tuner card and run 4 cables, from the LNB, one to each tuner.

I'm baffled now. I'd pay some one to solve this. I have one card inserted and both lnb inputs say IN but wen i a do a sat finder test tuner b reads 0%. Think I set my box up with 2 tuners a first install

echelon

put the box on bbc1 and one of the 2 cables in the top connector, leave the second one disconnected
then check bbc1 works ok

now replace the cable in the top one with the second cable and again check bbc1 works ok (leaving the first cable disconnected)

this will tell you if both cables are working ok

Both Tuners set to Simple & Single tested as per Echelon's instructions and you should be good to go.

My money is on dodgy connection. :D

Echelon done as you said and correct worked with one cable then the other didn't work

echelon

Echelon done as you said and correct worked with one cable then the other didn't work

that means you have a fault on the coax cable, the one that didnt work

check there are no short circuits from the braid to the inner core

so check the f connectors and connections at both ends

when you get a picture on the faulty one, reconnect both to the duo2 and test that both tuners work

Nikkas

If you have a multimeter check end to end for continuity..

maclee

No multi meter. May have to replace all cable

echelon
10-05-2015, 08:09 PM
if its new shotgun cable, its more likely to be your f connections, especially any short circuit

most faults are human error

maclee

Fault at lnb checked and stripped connector running ok. Now for next problem. I can only view free to air when recording other channels. Arrrrrrrgh

The VU+ Duo 2 only has 2 tuner slots:

@ techmate 3rd slot is there in the case but not on the board .

I think the VU+ Ultimo had 3xTuner slots, so they might have used the same cases.

the cccam info is in the tutorial sticky thread, as I amended it telling people to use cccam v2.30 with new images

DUMMIES guide - section 4 , part 2) , in blue

suggest you have a good read of those sticky threads as they get amended regularly with up to date details

glad your 2 issues are now sorted out , plus you now know you ordered a twin sat tuner model, not a single tuner model
