Duo 2 setup for Satellite & Cable?

I have had my Duo 2 for a while now, viewing via Satellite tuner and well conversant how to set it up using latest BH 2.1.5 but I have decided to install an additional Cable tuner since I have connection available. But some questions....

1. Is there a how to post to show how to configure and set up for Duo 2 configured for Sat & Cable setup? or can someone please tell me how to?

2. Can someone please advise how to scan channels? and save to Cables.xml? do I need a file to start with and where to get it? what software can be used to alter channel listings (I currently use Dreamset for Satellite channels)?

3. How do you change from watching Satellite to Cable channel?

Your help would be most appreciated. Thankyou in advance.

tuner config

type / dvbc
config mode / enable
used ss type / provider
provider to scan / adjust to youre cable operator .

then carry out a manual scan , that should add the channels to youre sat file , mine does take a few minutes before it starts to find any channels so be patient .
to change from sat to cable is the same as changing from sat to sat , cable appears in the sat list .

I am trying to upload scanned channels from my box to edit in Dreamset, any idea where I can find the file?

I use DreamboxEdit, all you need is to change the IP address, under tools, to that of your receiver, then use the Fast FTP download, under File options.
You might also want to set up a new folder, on your desktop, name it settings, and have the channel list stored there, as a back up.

normally you set a folder where either the files are (the settings) on your pc or laptop, or you select an empty settings folder on the pc or laptop to save the list to

so its either set an existing folder, or create a new folder and set that folder for the save, even if its empty if you are downloading from the box to the pc or laptop

this is the same for dreamboxedit too

I am using BH 2.1.6

I write my clions in notepad and upload CCcam.cfg files via ftp to etc/ folder in box running on cccam 2.3.0 for Satellite channels

I have installed mgcamd 1.38 for cable, but can I write the line in notepad like above? and where do I ftp it to?

MGCam config files go in the /var/keys folder.
Notepad or Notepad++ will be fine.

I created file MGCam.cfg using notepad and ftp it to /var/keys folder but not clearing. Anyone help?

check the mgcamd forum sticky threads etc as some options in mgcamd ( mg_cfg file) may need altering , its not as simple as just adding a line to the config file (so not like cccam)

the actual keys cfg name you used seems incorrect to me too



CWS = for newcamd.list

and c: for cccam.list

clearing on cccam 2.3.0 but not mgcamd 1.38, changed mg_cfg file still the same, why is it clearing in cccam 2.3.0? when it is in CWS format.

Mgcamd doesn't just use 'mg_cfg', it also needs key files:

A C line goes into - 'cccamd.list'

A N line goes into - 'newcamd.list'

Here's an example of 'newcamd.list' with 2 N lines



CWS_KEEPALIVE = 60
CWS = somewebsite.com 11000 username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan server1
CWS = anotherwebsite.org 11000 username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 lan server2


obviously - it's website/port/username/pass/key

that's how i have mine configured in newcamd.list with one Nline inserted like your example but a second line insert as below

CWS_KEEPALIVE = 300
CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000
CWS = somewebsite.com 11000 username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

any ldeas what is wrong?

You haven't added - lan server1 at the end of your line, you also don't need that line - CWS_INCOMING_PORT = 21000

Why not just copy and paste what I typed above - and change the details to yours? I already told you the format that works, also chmod the file to at least 644
