ttgo 520 - m*ta data file ?

how do i put the m*ta data file into the map folder ? ive tried to copy and paste without the "space" in m*ta but that doesnt work , please help , im stuck . thanks

You use the me ta file info with whatever activation tool you use. Some of the tools can be updated (latest me ta info), some need to be done manually.

Have a try of this activation tool - this one has an option to update the me ta file

No - the activation tools use the me ta information, sometimes they are not quite up to date as new maps are released so then you can use notepad to edit & add the me ta info to the me ta file that is with the activation tool.

Which activation tool are you using ?
Have you patched the ttsystem file or are you using a SE navcore version ?
What map are you trying to use ?

ive used tt home to try to update navcore , i now have got the message "no maps" but not sure what navcore version is as i cant get it to show on the device , so in tt home ive looked at the tt go bif file and applicationversionversionnumber is 7480 and applicationversion is 9048 , so what navcore have i ? and which map ad activation tool do you recommend i was trying bbs tools last night but got totally lost . thanks p.s. ive tried to download the fastactivate tool but avast is blocking it saying there is a threat.

I've posted 3 different activation tools now - all work and all will patch the ttsystem navcore file and will activate suitable maps.
When you use tomtom home to update the navcore, then it will be an official version - so use any of the tools to patch it. Then restart tomtom & turn off, connect to PC & start again. Then use one of the activation tools to activate the map.

Did you keep updating the navcore until you had a message saying no more updates available ?

yes updated as far as i could , can you tell which navcore i have installed from the info i gave you ? i have tried to load map using bbs tools again and now it says there isnt enough space on device for the map . thanks

Not got my tomtom handy, so cant have a look to see the info on mine, but it looks like yours is just v7.480 ??
What unit are you trying to update - I think it should be a newer navcore version than this ??
You could try using of the SE versions posted in here
What map are you trying to add & have you deleted the old map folder?

right bbs tools says navcore is 7.480 , device is ttgo 520 , ive been trying to load map 950 6492 but not sure if this is correct map for this navcore ( i thought my navcore was 9.*** last night , thats why i d/loaded that map ) what should be latest navcore and map for this device ? should i try to update navcore further ? if so how , as ive used tt home and got 7.480 or should i leave it at 7.480 and you tell me which map will go on . thanks for your help

I dont know what the latest official navcore is on a Go520, but I've got a Go730 which is almost identical to yours and I have got V9.530 on it - posted here :-

With this navcore I can use the v950.6492 maps with all the features working.

V950.6544 map should work with navcore v8.351 - did you get this from tomtom home or is it a 'SE' version ?
Have you patched the ttsystem file ? This need to be done and then the map can be activated (you have to use the activation tool twice)

its the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ir eland_950_6544 map im trying to put on device , i updated to the v8.351 using tt home , when i use bbs tools and select patch tts i get message saying "application does not exist " , what does this mean ? thanks

Don't know what it means sorry, not had this problem before. Either try using one of the other activation tools or use one of the SE navcores posted on the forum.

hi Russell , thanks for your help , i think im nearly there , i used alberts easyactivator tool in the root of the device to patch the navcore , then loaded the 950 -6544 map and used bbs to activate it , it seems to have gone on this time i just need voices and speed cams , cant see voices on the forum , so where do i get them and do voices and speed cams go into map folder ? thanks

Excuse me butting in here, but does the .cab file go in the zip folder as it is or do I need to extract the two files from within the .cab file to go into the zip folder?

there are no cab files at all

if you unpack the 950 zip file it has a folder called v950 postcode files containing a folder called zip

inside that zip are 2 files, a gbr postal file and a gbr ver file

just copy the zip folder to the root of the tomtom (the 2 files stay inside)

The one I have downloaded (from elsewhere) is a .cab file.
The two files as you mention are inside this .cab file, so I know what to do now.

there isnt a file named zip in the 950-6544 map , but i found a folder named "zip" in the original map that i backed up to the pc , before i tried to update the map . so transfered that to the root and it seems ok now . thanks for the heads up .

nope, the latest 950 postal file was added in russells latest maps post, as another download , below the other 2 map downloads (one with alg , one without) , as highlighted in red above

and below that was the compatibility map (the picture on the web showing compatibility)

so 4 links in total (3 downloads from filefactory and a weblink to a picture)
