I set up my Icecrypt 1600 myself and have been able to access the BBC channels on Intelsat 907 since October 2014. I am a novice to such things so if you can respond to my following problem please do not use jargon and technical abbreviations as I will simply not undestand. While watching the television the other day the channels were suddenly scrambled I have been unable to access them since despite reloading the software and channel list, and resetting the box - all I have been able to get is a scrambled message for each channel selected. Anyone out there able to assist ?

Have you checked that you have the correct BISS key?

The BISS key was updated on 12.12.2014 and had been working fine until this sudden scrambling occuring in the middle of watching TV. I tested the box at a friends house to eliminate the liklihood of faulty connections to sat dish, same result of scramble message received. The Biss code change in December 2014 was the most recent so yes I have the right codes. Any other suggestions ? please.

check for new BISS keys then, as its likely that they may have changed
BISS keys can be found in here

although I thought these boxes had a method of online updating ?

As far as I am aware the codes have not changed since December 2014, according to the websites I have researched. I don't know anything about online updating can you point me in the right direction to find out about that.

check the icecrypt s1600 firmware notes in the s1600 thread in the firmware forum at the top of this forum
read the thread with the firmware changes and updates, they tell you how to update your box
nb:- you will need an internet connection from your router to your box to do this, as manic01 suggested above

I`ve been through the menu on my s1600 to see if there is any setting that may give this problem.
The nearest is in PVR where there is an option to record as scrambled. However this does not affect normal viewing.
I backup everything on one USB and use it to update a friends box as the `sw + channels`also transfers the BISS codes.
Perhaps an option if the online does not work.

Hi ruth54
I would check the signal coming in from your dish as if it goes below 75% you get scrambled on screen, there are no problems with Biss as I have been using same ones since 12/12/14 so only logical thing it can be is dish/lnb/cable.What sig+qual are you getting on box when you use info button, has this changed since it was installed and you had the channels ok.I use icecrypt3200 but have setup 1600 OK and i nkow its working so the problem is local to you and your installation, hope this helps.

Ruth
I am aware of several around me on my condominium that are working sucessfully using the BISS code of 12.12.14
Reading your thread you have indicated that working Oct 14 and you installed the software to check if that was the problem as indicated by other check the BISS code again
IF you go to select say BBC look at the bottom right of you screen at the yellow and green bars then should be very high like 89%
If you have a good signal then reinstall the BISS key or go to Internet and do a do a FTP upgrade. My software is 1.63
Hope this helps
