Fire TV Stick

I purchased the Fire TV stick recently. It has Kodi on there but has been blocked by the supplier. Probably to promote Netflix. However, I found a demo showing how to sideload Kodi on the stick from TVAddons and it works well but a bit tricky because you need to set it up as an APK on a PC and port it over the net on to the stick. If anyone is interested I can post the link here, if that's ok with Ech. Otherwise I can PM it.

i had an issue at the start with the wifi dropping out,,, i then attatched the hdmi extender that came with it and haven,t had any dropouts since,,,,,sounds strange but made a big differance...

That's grand to know. Must have been a lost leader that was cutting into their profit margin. £35 is still cheap enough when you compare the rubbish being sold at similar prices on that infamous bidding site.

They tell me "get it next day with Prime" but it's out of stock until June 20. Got to spend some time now working out how that one works. :D

it works better on the firestick than it does on the mx box,,,,,,
the remote is very basic,,,,but perfect for kodi.........well worth the £25........just a pity i didnt get another before the offer ended.

I used my last link on the stick. But ............The addon guys have produced TVMC for the Fire Tv. And I guess it will be ok for the stick as well. So an easier route to get Kodi on to Fire Tv.

I think Fire ecosystem is not that good, However, Fire TV stick is very cheap and I think it would be worth getting it for Kodi. Is Kodi fully functional on Fire TV stick?

Yes, and it is on the stick as well. But blocked by Amazon. Hence the sideload but I've not tried TVMC yet.

ive backed up my build using adb fire. it backs up to the laptop without any issues,,,,now when i try to restore to another firestick,it fails..
is there any other way to restore a build to the firestick.

Help please. I am trying to install Kodi 14.2 onto my stick. I have managed to DL 14.2 and ADBFire but the problem I have is that when I try to connect to the fire stick through ADB it shows "ADB not running" at the bottom right of the box and "Device not connected.
What am I doing wrong!!!

yea sideload works perfectly bit of a palava to start and i beleive theres a shortcut hack you can do,but kodi works well streams 720p over my lan wirelessly without a glitch using istream addon

Unzip the attached keyboard.xml, Use ADBfire, select Keymaps and push the the keymap.xml to the Fire.

This will give you a much better user experience with Kodi using the remote, allowing you to use the menu key for adding, removing or selecting favourites and also allowing access to addon settings etc.

still getting backup failed when restoring one firestick build to another.....the build restores to the firestick that it was created on,but not the other..........also it takes at least an hour to backup..is this the norm.

updated to adb fire 1.26 ,and the restore issuses have been resolved.....

problem has resurfaced,,,,,,,doing a restore to the firestick failed again,,,,im getting " restore filed " "kodi not installed "
kodi is installed on the firestick and working,,,,,,,,,cant get to the bottom of it.

Kodi need to be open and running to do the restore, not just having the stick in the tv.

The "Restore Kodi" button restores a backed up copy of org.xbmc.* (or fork) to the device. Kodi must be closed in order to restore.

adb dosent restore a backup when kodi is running,,,,,,,trying to restore a kodi backup using adb fire is a major pain in the butt.
i have no issues installing apps to the firestick using adb.
will have to do some research to find an alternative method.

theres an even easyer way to install kodi on firetv or stick bu using the android app {apps2fire} from the google play store. for it to work you need to find the ip address of the stick/tv then add it to apps2fire app in settings and save, now if you have kodi on your androis phone you can just zap it over job done

hi to get kodi onto firestick you don't need adb fire from computer to stick, download an app called agk fire to your phone so simple :respect-046:

I am trying to load "Es Explor*r" onto my Fire Stick but when I go to download all it does is go back to the menu page.
It shows "Free" in the yellow box and when I press enter shows processing and then says "Your search did not match
anything in our catalogue".
It is not loading because it does not show in the apps column.
Can anyone please give me advise on how to get around this problem.
The stick is new out of the box, I am in Spain and was wondering if it could be my IP blocking the request???
