Does anyone know if a nikkia monoblock astra/hotbird is compatable with s1600chd. If yes what setting do I use. I have tried different settings but can only receive astra 19 channels which is prime focus lnb. Thanks.

I haven't tried this, but normally you set (in the positioner menu) for Diseqc 1 for Hotbird and 2 for Astra

Even more sorry, I'm not quite awake yet!
S1600 - installation, Sat = Hotbird, Diseqc to 1/1, Positioner set to Diseqc 1.2. and then scan as normal for channels. Then installation, Sat = Astra, Diseqc to 1/2, Positioner set to Diseqc 1.2.
Still not sure how good this would be using a Prime focus dish.
Check - Can you receive Hotbird channels when dish pointing to 13°E?

Will try that, I dont have diseqc 1/1 only 1/2 and2/2. Dish was aligned to astra and was getting all channels but no signal from hotbird. In process of realigning to hotbird.

Now realigned to hotbird and can receive channels but now nothing from astra. Struggling to know what to do now, maybe faulty monoblock.

Think the box is having a nervous breakdown, says one thing then says another. Seem to be picking up channels from astra 23.5 and 13e now, strange.

What size dish are you using?

80cm, I can receive 871 channels on hotbird 13e, 144 on astra 1d 23.5e. A lot of fails during scan maybe just need to be spot on with alignment, meter reading from box says level-90% quality-72% with hotbird and level-90% quality-63% on astra 23.5. New to this so any help welcome. Cheers
shouldn't that be astra 19e and hot bird 13e
not 23.5e

Should be, but for some reason cant lock on 19e

Maybe you could list some of the channels/frequencies that you are receiving on 23.5 east, to determine if it is actually on 23 east or in fact on 19 east.
shouldn't the dish be pointing at 16 e then with the mono block you should get 3 deg east and west of that point giving you 19e and 13e

RTL Tele Letzebuerg 23.5, TV Lux, ockt tv amongst others, most are encrypted, I had single lnb receiving 19e last week and the channels coming in are not the same as last week ie german eurosport.but since changing nothing but trouble.

Would explain some of the problems, still confused about how to aling dish to 16e and which side of monoblock to attach to dish. Will try in the morning.

When I first started in satellite tv I was using monoblock 6 degree which I set primary to Hotbird 13e this was then correct for picking up Astra 19e. However you need to be sure what LNB is pointing where. The way I worked this out was to make up a piece of card on which I mark south and then marked the amount of degrees to each Satellite. When I set up my dish I used a compass, which I layed on top of cardboard to pick out south now it was easy to pick out which LNB was which ( Hotbird @ 13e and Astra @ 19e). As I said earlier put the LBN neck in the wrong holder and you end up with 19e and 23e. or 13e and 8e.

Will try what you said but pretty sure the lnbs are the correct way round.

Sorry Munko had to edit my post #17 maths not to good this morning, I used the card system when I set up my latest dish ie. with an LNB bracket and 3 LBN's pointing to Thor 0.8w, Astra 19e and Hotbird 13e.
