My vu+Duo that I had for longer than 3 years now, has recently being unable to cope with any of the latest images. I tried few blackhole images including an old version 1.7.7 lite. Also I tried VTI image. However, still having issues my Vu+Duo crashes every hour.

• Is this an issue with Vu+ Duo’s brain getting old or is it because of the images?

• I was told to try installing the original image but I could not find the links to the plugins, files, and the process on how to install Cccam on an original image from scratch. Could anyone provide me with details to do so

• Are there any suggestions to what would be the next receiver if Vu+Duo is no longer the boss in the market?

Your input is much appreciated

Cheers

moved to the correct forum

you will find the images in our various VU images sub section, under this VU section

the tutorials are in the sticky threads at the top of this duo forum where I moved this thread to for you

the E2 settings are where you posted this thread originally, in the E2 settings forum

impossible to decide if your box is faulty or not , they can suffer from capacitor issues, its capacitor c807

vu solo 2 and vu duo 2 are the best twin tuner VU receivers at the moment, both available from goldwafers (the sponsor)

I have just installed the BH215 image on my duo a couple of weeks ago (2161 is the latest)
I also installed cccam v2.30 for BH images, plus oscam and mgcamd too
plus the latest catseye settings file for E2 boxes

or try vix hades 12 from the openvix.co.uk download site

I doubt it's an image - as it would be happening to everyone.

If it's crashing every hour or so - it's likely to be something heating up on your board and open circuiting (dry solder joint) or a damaged capacitor - just as echelon has said.

You could try looking for a bulging capacitor - or try another PSU (with the same voltage and amperage output). Failing that - you could try removing the motherboard/PSU board and looking for any heat damage or burned out components.

I changed that c807 capacitor for keano last year, and its on the main board , plus its always been the source of various issues, mainly the red light and standby issue but has been cited as the cause of these random crashes too on many a forum

its certainly worth changing it and then using a recent image

Please also clean the cpu and resink the heatsink..I had this problem..The cpu lifts from the board..give it a push down and get some paste and resink it..It may work..However it will need to be done again from time to time...

Just got myself a solo2 though..very happy!

This morning, my vu+ Duo is getting worse as it has been freezing every 15 min. I had to turn off and turn it on from the back of the receiver or from the main plugs. it does come up and work for 10 to 15 min before it crashes again. Is this to the with C807 or more than that.? Is it easy to repair? Is it cheap to repair or is it better to invest in a new receiver?

Please see attached the crash log if that can help. much appreciated for your input.

its quite an easy and cheap repair for somebody with soldering experience

just looking at the caps here, they are 330 mf 25 volt electrolytic capacitors

google the prices or check on the flea bay, cant see them costing much , £2 at the most (including postage)

some sellers have a pack of five for £2.49 delivered free , so 50p each

so parts wise it will be cheap, but then you need a competent person with a soldering iron etc

nobody can say for sure, but its likely to be the problem and costs little to change so worth a punt anyway
