Remote not working

Hi guys dropped the box from about 4 ft onto a wooden floor and afterwards the remote did not work. Changed the battery in the remote no good. Tried a remote from a 9900 still no good. I can get into the menu and change channels from the buttons on the front, but I think I have damaged something inside to do with the remote. Any ideas for a quick fix (for the box not my stupidity) or is it something I am going to have to live with, til the new one comes out.

Best to check the remote is operational first by using a digital camera or mobile phone,( there is a thread about this somewhere onsite) then with the 6000 disconnected take the top off and see if all the ribbon cables are firmly connected.

A year or less back my 6000 remote started to go wrong intermittently until it stopped completely, it turned out that that the main IR diode had a dry joint and once re-soldered it worked fine again,
