Itcould be age, or it could be over heating, Try putting some blocks, under each corner, to allow airflow underneath.
There is a recovery tool option, in the Spiderbox tools setion, that might resolve the problem.

As the OP says runs fine on non hd both free and paid sounds like a dish/LNB tweak might possibly help.

Maybe the OP can give a hint to the offending TPs and some channel and sat. names might help as at the moment we are just surmising

Edit OP mentioned paid for not I KS so if using a p@ yserver contact them

By Freeview I assume you mean FTA, Free to Air, channels.
My Spiderbox 9000HD was very warm, even though it wasn't in a confined space, hence the blocks, under each corner.

I don't have a spiderbox anymore - so I can't check - but surely there is a chip (CPU) with a heatsink on it? maybe you could just re-paste that if there is. or put a computer fan inside the box if it's overheating.

He said it was on free channels - ie no server (lines) required. If it's freezing on normal free HD channels but not on SD, the chances are it's some problem with the box using more power to display the hd channel - making them freeze (probably due to a dry joint or component overheating).

try it on a different sat feed from 28e, like at somebody elses house, just to see if its the box or the lnb or dish alignment at fault

only test it on free to air channels like bbc1 HD , bbc2 HD and ITV1 HD and C4HD , forget the rest for now

could be that the box is faulty, its getting old now and they do suffer from component issues like dry capacitors etc, so could be a motherboard fault, or could be a psu fault, or both (if its the box and not the lnb or dish alignment)

you are blaming the box but have not given us any evidence that it is the box at fault

As only HDs affected try realigning/tweaking dish.

From self experience canal digital nordic HD channels were pixelating on my motorised last week after very strong winds here ( central southern norway ) set about fine tuning the dish and found it needed 5 steps to the east for max signal, all fine now.

Edit Canal digital nordic official card subscription

I've just repaired a 9000 power supply, my old box was freezing and jumping a bit on IK$ channels and others and the general cōnsēnsus was the power supply drops off the pace after a few years of continuous use.

I replaced nearly 20 capacitors on the supply which wasn't too hard to do but was slow work with double and treble checking everything you did, the capacitors aren't too expensive at under £2 for five each but 16 different ones cost about £35 for the lot.

I gritted my teeth when I turned it on but it worked first time without glitching or freezing, its been on for over 24 hours now and is still ok, I've got one more to do and that will be my lot, its too tedious to do more than a few.

I've kept the old capacitors and will test them when my new capacitance meter arrives to see if any particular rogue component was causing the freezing problem, replacing a few of them would be much better than replacing the lot as they were tightly packed on the board.

I was glad it was a power supply problem as there are over 60 caps on the main board and it would definitely not be economical to do if some of those had packed up.
