Navigo SY885 can't get speed cameras working with Tom Tom

I bought this Navigo SY885 in 2008 / 2009 and upgraded immediately with Tom Tom and all has been working fine. Decided to update it with the latest maps 900_4608 and speed cameras. navigation works and although speed cameras appear in the Change preferences and POI's they don't alert me when I approach one ( set to 100 yards ).

I've copied into the maps folder:

Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.ver

One thing I tried was browsing the map and trying to find / POI and Speedcams but it doesn't find any, can somebody who has speedcams working please try that and let me know if it works?

Anybody offer any other advice please?

Have you uses the latest activator to activate the cams? If activated successfully, there should be a .dct file appear in the same folder too.

The tomtom cams don't appear on the maps at all. POIs will only appear if you have them selected in 'options'.

By the way 900_4608 maps are ancient! Look in the stickys for latest maps.

Used BBS tools on the maps, then copied in the cams - didn't run BBS again. Should I? There is a .dct file in the folder but for the maps, not one for the cameras, should there be?

Didn't realise the maps were that old :( Did try a later one but struggled to get a download to work.

This forum, check out the 'tom tom go' section. I think you will need the 950.6544 map.

Yes, after adding the speedcams they will need to be activated, this will add a Safety_Cam_UK_TomTom.ov2.dct file to the folder. I would recommend the latest FastActivate, should come complete with all the necessary metas.

OK loaded the maps and cameras and used FastActivate from the root of the SD card, loaded the correct ****.txt in the root as well. Maps work OK, POI's I've selected ( railway & petrol stations ) show on map but no sign of speedcams in the POI's at all. I used the premium ones this time as the notes seem to say they are more complete.

There is a .dct file for the cameras.

What have I done wrong?

The official tomtom speedcams don't appear in the POIs or on the maps, unlike the old pocketgpsworld ones. The only way I found to check they're working is to set a route through a known speedcam and run a demo.

I think the only difference with the premium speedcams is that they give live updates for mobile cameras, but it only works on connected tomtom devices.

You are correct, demo shows the warning. I was going out for a ride tomorrow round the local cameras, you have saved me the trouble.
