Hi all.
Total noob to all of this satellite box stuff. I am struggling to locate the actual file I need to put a decent EPG on my new STC6000HD box. I've worked out that I need a .TAR.BZ file but I can't find one online. My plugin menu asks me for a server address that is not populated with anything so I am kind of stuck. The box recognises files named .TAR.BZ on my usb stick.
HELP! please

What satellite/channels do you want the EPG for?.
For 28degE there is already a 7 day EPG : press blue EPG button then the other blue button.
Select Open TV EPG and it will populate the six channels showing.
When this is finished, press the fav (favourite) button and select Standby mode to EPG option to On.
Exit to TV. Put receiver into standby (not energy saving) and after approx. 10 minutes bring receiver back to TV.
All the 28degE channels should now be populated with 7 days EPG.
This also works for S4000, S3500, S3600.

Ah yes. I am tuned into 19, 23 & 28 astra satellites. It was the MHW epg that was coming up and each time it would tell me that it was unable to update 19 and 23 even if the current dish position in on those satellites. I have just selected the Open TV EPG and will see what that one looks like. I liked the look of the cross epg and on the surface of it I thought it would be simples to instal it. Find a file online stick it on a USB stick, plug it in to the box and bobs your uncle. I'm not finding it that easy. To start with every time I download a link from this forum it defaults to .php as the file type? Not sure what's going on there?

I do, its a lack of reading the forums here, especially sticky threads
it was explained in many threads over the last couple of years but especially in this sticky thread about 17 months ago

Ah its one of "those" forums then! For the record I don't have time to wander through every section of a forum this large especially the general chat sections. A search on PHP or attachments brings up thousands of results. Best solution is usually to just ask the question and brave the condescending responses. Thanks though as that has fixed the PHP issue. I'm stuck with ie as I mostly use an RT laptop that doesn't allow other browsers to install.
Now I just need to work out how to locate a crossepg file in the format that the icecrypt box will recognise. I thought I had found one on here using the google homepage but I don't seem to be able to find it again now.

Post 2 explains how to do this for the stc 6000
press guide/express epg/open tv epg and it will populate that page of channels you are viewing. If you have a dual sat version and you leave the stb in standby it will auto populate all the channels you have tuned into on 28 deg, providing you have tuned in both tuners to the same channels.
Comments like this "Ah its one of "those" forums then! For the record I don't have time to wander through every section of a forum this large especially the general chat sections" wont endear you to other members there is an expectation on this site you do a bit of hard work too.
