Just got a VU+ Solo 2 with a 1TB internal HDD and a VIX image.

It belonged to my uncle who had it for a while but found it difficult to master so put it away until I said I was thinking of upgrading and he passed it on to me.

I have tuned 28.2E in and come to a bit of a wall. I have $iy Broadband and the box is connected to the router by Ethernet cable, I have all the boxes ticked when I run the Network Test, tried restarting the Network from the menu and re-booting the router but it won't connect to the internet.

Whenever I enter a selection that needs internet access I get the message "Your VU+ Solo 2 is not connected to the internet, please check your network settings and try again"

I have downloaded and installed VU Control Centre on my laptop and this works with the box and I have backed up the settings, also downloaded VU Player onto my tablet and this lets me watch satellite via the box over WiFi.

Is there a setting in the router that needs changing or something in the Solo 2 ?

Thanks

Alan

If 'Use DHCP' is set to 'no' in network setup change this to yes, press OK to activate the settings then restart your solo2
it may be that your uncles router local IP range is different to yours this will fix that

this same page will also show you what address your solo2 has been given, check it shows as connected in your routers config

once your all connected you can set 'Use DHCP' back to no and your solo2's IP will remain static, so you'll know where to find it everytime

Thanks for your quick reply, I tried the above but with no joy.

It appears to be connected to the router ok as I can access it from VU Control Centre and VU Viewer over WiFi.

It has an address in the router settings which is the one I used to connect the Control Centre to.

On the face of it, it looks like it's ok up to the router

How old is the vix image, if it's old it's possible that the feeds you are trying to connect to have changed url so don't exist anymore

It might be worth your while having a clean start and flashing an up to date vix or open blackhole image to your box

Thanks, the image will have been on since he got it last year.

I'm very new to all this, only had very simple receivers before. I know there are a number of images available and a lot of it is down to personal preference, but which would you recommend for an enthusiastic novice.

If I were you I'd probably opt for open blackhole as it's pretty user friendly
and the stickies should give you most the info you need to get it up and running
plus there is a lot of blackhole users here so any problems you stumble across will probably have been found by them before

Update. Thanks Saintomer 1866, I flashed the box with the latest Openvix image, which went remarkably well.

Ran the setup wizard and it connected to the Internet first time, checked all the settings (same as before) so whatever the problem was disappeared with the new image.

All up and running on 28.2E, larger dish and motor the next addition I think.
