I'm familiar with kodi, but I'm clueless on the satellite side of things, so I'm glad to have found this forum as I have a lot of questions, the first one is: Is there a beginners section/thread or an FAQ?

welcome to the forum

as its a complicated subject, then no there are no simple answers, so you just have to read the general sections and any box or other technical sections suitable for you , depending on any equipment you have or are thinking about buying

check the general sat forum, dish forum , lnb forum , android and kodi forums , plus any box forums like VU or Spiderbox etc

each sat box forum usually has a FAQ and GUIDE forum with sticky threads to help newbies

there are also discussion forums for tv , sat boxes and similar products too
