Hi guys, I just updated my solo2 last week to B.H 2.1.7, my old image was 2.0.7. The installation went quite smoothly but then my external hdd went off and I obviously could not record however the listings would still show up in the menu. I thought the hdd was toast so I bought a new one, only 500gb as I do not do a lot of recording now. When the new drive arrived I tried to install it as an internal one but it green screened and I lost my saved channel listings. I then tried to mount the old hdd again but it would not playback but still had the listing showing. I then put the new hdd into the old hdd housing and tried to mount it as an external drive and it green screened again.
I was wondering if there was a bug in the B.H 2.1.7 image which has these associated issues?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am now unsure which way to proceed.
Regards,
Ironman

Black Hole 2.1.7 has a known bug, which causes problems with the hard drive. It is probably posted, on the forum, but all you have to do is go into the menu, addons manager, Black Hole skins and download the default skin, for 2.1.7.

I was thinking this myself I wonder if perhaps Open Blackhole has the full attention now?

It's not really a problem with Black hole 2.1.7, just the skin, and as it's so easy to update the skin, they have probably just ignored the problem, but will have it fixed in the next version.
I'm still using 2.1.5, as this is currently doing everything I currently require.
as I use the default skin from the install
ie change nothing all basic install I cant see this as a bug as theres no problems with my set up

Thanks for the info guys, my image has not been altered, its as it was, I will try a different skin but would have thought it came with the default? I have not checked and really dont know how to?
@ Sonic I was using the menu functions, 2nd one down which has " Mount HDD ", pressed the red button, few seconds later green screen then reboots. Could this be because the HDD is not formatted in Linux and thew box cannot do a format? I have not seen a format option on this image?
Thanks again guys, off to work now. :)

Quick update, I installed image 2.1.6 over the weekend and it worked a treat, mounted the hdd and its set up now. My old hdd was faulty also so I just swapped over the connections and put it back in its case, its outside now like the last one.
Many thanks to DCG, Mickha, cannydo and sonic1 for the advice and support. :)

Just to add a bit to the tale, I mounted the hdd as above but have had trouble with it. It does not want to mount, and I cannot see where the recording path is in the menu. I have tried several timed recordings without success, have tried an instant recording by pressing the red button, but cannot get it to show in the usual menu, it shows in a playlist which I have not been able to access. Have re mapped a few times but never get an acknowledgement from the unit, also checked the file system, and again no acknowledgement. Just wondering if the drive is faulty or could it be the image, again?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

ironman.

If it is the Recording Path that you cannot see in the Setup Menu, go to Menu>Setup>System>Customize and change to Expert Mode.

Can you access them by going to Menu>Media player>Harddisk>movie or to whatever directory you might have chosen as your recorded movies location?

When I go that route I get a split screen of File list on the left side under the heading Media Player, then on the right hand side is Playlist which has a list of previously recorded programs. When is press ok in the file list side it duplicates the program and shows up in the playlist section. However I cannot access or use the Playlist section. Have tries the arrow buttons around the ok button but nothing works. I can only get the full use of the pvr button the one between menu and audio by doing the filesystem check. Hope you can advise from what I have written. :)

When you are in Media Player, togo from FileList to Playlist, either press the Menu button once again and select "switch to playlist" or by pressing and holding the right-hand button for a few seconds.

Thank you satfoot, will that make the pvr botton work again? Or is it just another way to access recorded files? Many thanks for the quick replies.

It's just another way to access the recorded files.
Your problem of not being able to access your files via the pvr button seems to be related to the skin.
I also have a Solo2 with BH 2.1.7 and as already stated by others, do not have this problem.
But I prefer to access the recorded movies through the MediaPlayer plugin and not by pressing the pvr button
is because when I choose the latter method and after playing a recorded movie, the only way to go back to the
normal channel list is by doing a restart GUI as I never yet found an other way round.

Hi satfoot, before when I had the use of the pvr button I could stop the program by pressing the square button right of the red button on the bottom row. Then a drop down list appears and you can select what you want from it, ie delete recording or stop program or whatever else is on the list. Hope that helps you, and thanks for the info.
