took mygica to florida and it worked fine in hotels with decent wifi in each room rather than communal areas. presume with firestick you wont need different adapters for mains socket. do they work from usb straight into tv?

Cheers guys, I might give one a go then, its just that there are so many things nowadays with which to obtain entertainment - and as always the hardest thing can be to find the one (or more!) which suits ones own needs most of all!
Oh, please bring back the 'easy' life of satellite channels, smart cards, cams, etc etc!! lol!!

I have just stayed in a hotel in Vegas where the TVs were blocked from displaying any entertainment systems other than their own (for which you had to pay obviously).

But otherwise don't think there are any geographical limitations.

But from what has been said above, not a lot extra from basic Freeview - as surely no 'major' channels such as Sky Sports, BT Sports, etc etc for your money?

Once you put KODI on it then the world is your lobster :woohoo-022:

I bought a Fire 4K TV Box when they dropped down to £64.99 a few days back.

They have more ram and a faster CPU than the more basic stick I think and also have a micro SD card that can take a card up to 128GB and a USB port as well. :)

Thanks Sandra, so if I got the £34 version and put Kodi on it I WOULD be able obtain many channels I mentioned above?
I wouldn't need the £64.99 one YOU have as my TV is not 4K but up to 1080P, you lucky thing!

I haven't got a 4K TV either, YET but you never know and it is not far off Xmas and then the new year sales :respect-069:

My friends Firestick seems to run KODI very well using Black Box, he bought it with Black Box KODI already installed and it has the Amazon registration bit bypassed somehow whereas I had to register mine and my friends Fire TV Box with our Amazon accounts when I set them up to run Wookie. That isn't a problem and may even be an advantage as we can both go to an area, like a quick launch bit on a PC, where we can add apps using a program called adb fire to send .apk files to it and can then run them directly without having to go into KODI where my friend with the stick only seems to be able to run KODI.

I am still finding my way around it yet though as I have only briefly dabbled with it on PCs before a couple of years back when it was just going from XBMC to KODI, so others may be able to advise you as to the pros and cons of the stick v the box and if you pay a little more for the box if it is worth looking at other boxes at around the same price or a little dearer. :)

now i have a firestick and have tested it abroad i can answer my question that no one seemed able to answer before, these sticks are geoblocked so you gona need vpn to get it to work outside uk,
but as mentioned in other threads when kodi is installed then it becomes a great little stick that you can take anywhere with a half decent wifi connection
