What Is A Backup Image?

I've loaded the new Blackhole image 3.0.1 onto my stb and very happy with it. My questions are, what is a Blackhole 3.0.1 Vu+ Solo2 Full Backup image, do you load it in sequence with the original Blackhole image and if so how?
Also, do I need to have this on my Vu+ Solo2 as a precaution for a possible crash or whatever.
Sorry, only been my hobby for 20 years! Still learning!!

A backup image is an original image but with extra things already in it such as softcams or other plugins. Ifyou are happy to install your own addons there is no real advantage of a backup.
