In my previous thread I introduced myself and asked the following question but it was against the rule, I am sorry. Here goes the query:
I want to buy a sat receiver for the 27.5w, between an icecrypt s1600 and TM 5402 HDM3, which one should I go for? I'd like to buy the TM5402 but I am worried that I may break it while trying to patch. Here in the UK I have been using the Humax HD but the other location is in southern Spain and I only want to get the Freeview channels from the 27.5w sat. Please give advices! Thanks.

TM5402HD gets my vote you can set it up over here and then take it with you, It's alos quite hard to brick it via a firmware flash just make sure you get the latest M3 patched firmware

Thank digicon!
Which patch should I use? I've downloaded the TM-5402-M3-139p-12-10-2015 from
_http://downloadtmsw.com/bbs/reply.php?board=tm5402hd&num=60 is this the right one?

the patches are in our technomate firmware forum , here
https://www.satpimps.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?327-Firmware
the 5000 discussion forum has useful info in the threads too, including this recent one

Thank you echelon and lacierva for your advice I've just bought the TM5402 today from amazon.
Is there a "how to patch" write up in the forum? I assume I'd need to move the patch to a usb then access the patch via the TM5402 menu.
At the moment I have a fixed disc for the freesat can I use the disc to tune the TM box for the I907 without rotate the disc?

hi
you need to check out our technomate 5000 forum for all that type of info
I will move this thread into there now you have bought a box
unless your dish is actually pointing at 27.5w then no it wont work and no you cannot tune the channels in or test them, plus the dish may not be big enough either or may have other "issues" like incorrect oreintation for anything other than 28e
I am assuming here that you currently have a mini sly dish of 39cm pointed at 28.2 east, so thats all you will currently pick up with your new tm5402 box
if you had say a motorised dish of between 80cm and 110cm and were in the uk or western europe and pointed the dish at 27.5w then yes it could all be tested and tuned in etc
so you have a lot to learn but its likely that you will be using a usb stick so read up on the procedures in the other threads in this particular forum
its also worth trying to obtain a recent channel list for your box and install that too
