Good afternoon all

could some one please tell me which image is the best for my Vu duo 2. Currently it is an image with a lady covering her eyes and my receiver is fixed on my sly dish,i also have motorised dish which is connected to my spiderbox 9000hd and when i get to learn more about the vu i will change it around so my spiderbox is on 28.2 and my vu on motorised dish

I have had it for more than a year now and beginning to understand how to do things,i would if a may be pointed in the right direction
to be able to down load or update things such as auto bouquets which i believe will give me the channel lists as they are in order of the provider.example 28.e as it is on sly.

Also if i could have a beginners guide on how to ftp my sea line,i am at stage of being able to connect my laptop to my Vu and i can see whats on my laptop on the left and whats on my duo on the right and i have read most of the threads on how to do this but i still cannot do it

I wish not to be a burden as i am not tech clever better with a crickebat and ball

any help would be most grateful

many thanks

The ViX image is the easiest to use for a new user. They have automated a lot of the standard features like the update process.

Their forum is useful as well if you get stuck, but you will have to come back here for any cline advice.

I still like the Black Hole images, although even they're not perfect, for my requirements, but no matter which image, you select, parts of Lee's guides, from goldwafers, are very useful:

OpenVix for me. I cant fault it.
Only got my Vu duo2 end of October. My plan was to try Blackhole first for a while then try OpenVix and then decide which one I preferred. But I ended up installing OpenVix first for some reason and I stuck with it. Didnt see the point of changing it to something else. It works great and the whole family can use it. I bought it to replace my sly HD box and havent looked back since.

TIP: I find Oscam (latest version) works much better then Cccam with my setup (Vu+ Duo2 with OpenVix 3.2 build 033)

Plenty to help you out here
Have fun

1. Install latest OpenViX.
The latest at the moment is OpenViX 3.2 build 036

2. Setup and run AutoBouquetsMaker:
Menu > Setup > Service Searching > AutoBouquetsMaker > Providers
Pick which Channels you want, press green to save.
Start scan
You now have channels

3. Setup and run CrossEPG:
Menu > Setup > System > EPG > CrossEPG > OpenTV providers
Select Astra2 on 28.2, press green to save.
Download now
You now have a 7day EPG

4. Install Oscam:
Menu > Plugins > Download plugins (green button) > Softcams
Install "oscam-latest (1.20+svn11204-r1)" (this is the latest at the moment)
You now have oscam installed. But you need to add 3 files to the VU to make it work:
( "oscam.server" , "oscam.conf" , "oscam.user" )

5. Create "oscam.server" file.
Use Cccam converter 1.2 to convert a sealine to an oscam.server file.
You'll find Ccam converter at the bottom of this post

Extract "CCcam-Converter_1.2.zip"
Open "cccam2oscam.exe"
Type or paste the sealine into the top white box.
Press "Convert to Oscam"
Press "Save oscam.server"
You now have your "oscam.server" file

6. Obtain "oscam.conf" and "oscam.user" files
You'll find them at the bottom of this post

7. Now you've got the 3 files:
"oscam.server" , "oscam.conf" , "oscam.user"

8. Transfer the 3 oscam files to your VU
You can use Filezilla to do this.
Drop the 3 files into the config folder
You will find it here var > tuxbox > config

9. Start oscam.
Menu > Setup > SoftCam/CI > Softcam Manager
Enable Startup (blue button)
Start (green button)
Close (red button)

After that you should be up and running. If all is good then Its a good time to make a backup.

10. Make a backup
Menu > Setup > ViX > Backup Manager
New Backup (green button)

Then you could tweak the various settings in the box to suit yourself. Then when your happy you could make another backup.

Any questions, just ask.

you will also find various help and ideas and ponters in all these vu discussion forums on pimps, and the emu sections like cccam and oscam and mgcamd too

so almost everything you have asked about has been discussed in the various VU forums here with help , advice , screenshots and what goes where and why

start with cccam and all the basics, then progress to oscam when you have the basics working

as for eventually, consider making sure you have more than one feed from the sly dish ,so say a quad or octo lnb and separate coax feeds

then consider having the vu duo2 with tuner 1 on the motor and tuner 2 on the sly fixed dish, with the spiderbox on another sly feed from the same fixed dish

I have always used blackhole but I have been using open blackhole for a few weeks. I like it a lot. I will have to try openvix. All my friends use vix and wouldn't change.

first thing is to install cccam 2.30 if you can from the menus in vix (softcam)

then log into the var/etc folder with filezilla or dcc or whatever and transfer the CCcam.cfg file to a folder on your laptop

also download and install NOTEPAD++ from the net onto your laptop

open the CCcam.cfg file with notepad++

press return on the top line so it drops one line to line 2

put the cursor on the left hand side of the empty line 1

paste in the sea lion

if you have more then one, press return and add sea lion 2 to the now empty line 2

same again if you have any more , 3 on the empty line 3 etc

when completed , save the file using the exact same name , overwriting the transferred file on your laptop

then ftp it back to var/etc on the box , overwriting the default one in there (replacing it)

then reboot the box or restart E2 and test

I believe you can setup the CCcam.cfg config file and add an N line as long as its done correctly

we do have an EMULATOR section here on pimps with advice and tutorials on using an emu with your box, or more than one emu

MGCAMD will allow you to mix C lines and N lines in the usr/keys folder config files , so try mgcamd v1.38

if you learn how to setup oscam its verty versatile and allows for both types of lines to be used too, and is the preferred method nowadays for decryption

so its a case of learning how to add lines, where they are added, how they are configured and what files are required and how they are altered to make them work

I would add mgcamd v1.38 as an additional emu and try adding you c line and making sure it worked, then add a hash # in front of the C line to disable it, and add your N line into the other config file and test it. once they are both working, remove any hash # characters in front of C or N so both are active and try mgcamd

then the more you learn the better, becasue you then add oscam and dso the same , learning as you go, so both are enabled and working in oscam

if somebody tells you how to add an N line to cccam, then do so , test it and learn that too

once all the above has been done , all 3 emulators should be able to work, using the softcam manager plugin to change the default emu as required

so 3 posible ways of achieving what you want , with various threads and advice in the cccam forum , newcamd forum and mgcamd forum here on pimps, under EMULATORS , so please look , read , digest etc

the various dreambox and vu forums here on pimps may also have the answers you seek, as they are all linux boxes

any IPTV stuff will be via suitable plugins , which vary from image to image
