First try connecting it to a PC with TomTom Home installed and no SD card in the slot.

It should work without the SD card, The card is usually only needed to run other maps.

Then report back.

Could you elaborate a bit.

Which location is not available? The Tomtom or something else?

OK. With it connected to a PC let it charge up for about 15 minutes. Then can you turn it off and on again with the ON button on the top (you need to press the button for 2 or 3 seconds) ?

Can you do that with and without the SD card installed?

If yes to either, turn it off and press the reset button on the bottom with a pin or a paperclip. (that clears any earlier settings which might have become corrupted).
Give it a few seconds to reset, then try starting it without the SD card.

If it still crashes, it may be that Tomtom Home can still repair the TT.

Install Tomtom HOME on the PC.

Plug in the Tomtom and turn it on - TT Home should start up on the PC.

If it doesn't start you have a real problem but just start it as you would for any program.

Look to see if TT Home recognises the TT

If yes try the Backup option first.

Have a look here for some things to try :

If nothing works, the option to "Format" the TT looks a possibility but its a bit drastic as you will lose any map data in the device. That isn't a real problem as you can load and patch a map from this site.

If you can't do any internal updating of the TT then I'm a bit lost.
