Hi, all: Recently acquired the HiTech 9000 (outside the UK) and thanks to jbvid's very useful "Setup Guide", I'm up and running on most fronts.

My model came with a little device (roughly triangular, rounded edges) that plugs into the IR port and lights up a bright green colour when the unit
is turned on, as does the unit's IR light on the front panel. I'm not sure what the purpose of this device is. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Also, the purpose of the "Lock" light on the front panel is not clear (sometimes it's amber, at other times red).

Pity that the "User Manual" of this very good receiver is so sparse, even if joins several similar ones I've had in the past.

Thanks in advance

if you put the receiver behind tv and the ir repeater at the front of tv,the box will respond to remote.

Hi
The IR unit can be used if your Hitech 9000 is stored in a cabinet, behind the TV or anywhere out of 'line of sight' of the normal IR sensor.
The Locked light appears when you have a locked valid transponder with a signal.
