hi chaps, just an ask if its possible to replace wireless female on rear of receiver it seems as if its not picking up signal from router with network plug ex no ip addy being picked up, i have a 9900hd which went kaput on f100 but that connector is ok & just wondered if its a big job tia

the 9000 does not have a wireless receiver in it nor a wifi point

the 6000 does , but not the 9k series (nor the 7k series either)

Sorry I mean the female where you insert the network plug cable/I've just got a new bt router it auto picks up my 2 ND spider box IP just wondered if it's blocking anything in advanced settings

no idea about the BT router but if the spiderbox has DHCP set to ON then it should be allocated an IP by the router automatically

you appear to be talking about the ETHERNET socket on the rear of the box (like on a pc)

I have never known them to go faulty , but yes its a straightforward enough job to unsolder an old one (or detach a ribbon cable one if fitted) and replace it

I doubt that this female ethernet socket is actually faulty , so it might be worth using a multimeter from each "pin" back to the motherboard testing for continuity , this is easily achieved with plugging an ethernet cable in and using a multimeter with croc clips onto a sewing needle ( 2 needles , one for red and one for black) and "buzzing" out the cable through to the pinouts where the socket reaches the motherboard , should be about 8 pins in total

I dont have any old 9000 boxes any more so cannot help with the details so have given a generic answer

but I do not believe the socket is faulty unless it has been physically damaged , they are very robust as they are designed for desktop and tower use and have migrated onto laptops and internet boxes like sat boxes , cable boxes , tv,s and android boxes etc

hi again, i,ve tried to no avail but the SB will not pick up ip address from bt smart hub/having rebooted several times & hard reset the receiver & hub/i have read issues with the new smart hub & called bt technical who advised to switch off a certain configuration i.e smart hub/i am running spiderplugs which work fine on my other receiver & server is ok connected/as mentioned ethernet seems good as flashing light on rear of receiver/everything seems switched on SB/any ideas ?

nope , I dont have any of that equipment at all and nothing jumps out other than try it elsewhere on a different router

ie:- if it fails in 3 different houses on 3 different routers on 3 different broadband connections , its fracked

if it works elsewhere, then its down to this new hub or something similar

try disconnecting dish from box,move box and tv near router and use a short cat 5 cable from box to router,see if it works

yes i did that as well joe but no show on network/ip/although MAC numbers appear/have two sets of network plugs & both work on other box so not those/i,m pretty sure its this new bt hub from what i,ve read with conflicts on web

also try giving the box a static address in case router has given the two boxes the same address,have seen in the past where this has happened
