Hi my friend has a spiderbox 6000 which looks really good for what im after myself. Before I get one I was wondering if there are better boxes with the same functions. Also are they hard to set up as my friend had someone set his up for him.

Thanksbetter boxes yes but more expensive and can be harder to setup the spiderbox is well worth the money for a starter box also not too difficult to setup plenty of help out there also consider the 9000 hitech receiver but the picture quality is not as good in my opinion

I would want better picture quality. Am I right and all the channels are not in HD?
Would the 6000 be better than the 9000 if I want better picture quality then?

Both boxes are HD so have HDMI out, the Hitech9000hd is newer and has more options.
HD or SD is dependent on the Satellite (most have both)

i don't have the 9000 but did set 1 up lately was very disappointed with the picture quality compared even to the humble 6000hd my opinion for what it's worth both receivers can give you the same amount of hd channels as it's not receiver dependent but down to the broadcasters both receivers are easy enough to patch

no not exactly same free channels yes but there are other options mscam would be the same but i think more options on the iptv side channel streamimg with the 9000

You could Google these questions.
Mscam = Encryption
IKS = Earlier Encryption
IPTV = Internet Protocol Tele Vision, or Television channels via an Internet connection.
Read some Setup guides and Stickies.

There are setup guides to read, print out and keep for reference for both the 6000HD and the Hitech9000HD. Many 'new to it' forum members have managed to set them up ok, you still have the Forum if the guide hasn't covered a specific problem you may come across. There is also the Advanced Search box at the top right of the Forum.
