Remote transcoding

Hi. I can't get remote transcoding to work from my Vu+solo2 to my android phone.
I have got transcoding set to port 8002 on solo2, and have installed Vu+playerHD app on my phone.
I have set port forwarding on my bt hub as follows:

Vu+Player ANY 8001-8002 8001-8002
Vu+Webif TCP 8099-8099 80-80

It works within my own network, but not from another location.
Any help on what I'm doing wrong please.

but still no joy.
Although I've titled this thread remote "transcoding", it's really just remote access I'm trying to achieve.
Any help?

Thanks for reply Burham. After a lot of googling, I've got it sorted. Can now access stb, and stream, from another location.

The setup is quite straight forward really. Simply install the Vu+playerHD from Play store on your phone, then access your router and open port 80 (for webif) and port 8002 (for transcoding/streaming). The problem is that different routers have different ways of letting you do this, That's the bit I struggled with.

I've set a password for webif. Do you think that is sufficient, or do you think I should still change the port?

My concern is not blocking access to webif, but rather blocking access to your home network. As I understand it, port 80 is the standard port used by most applications "listening" on the net for activity from a client. Hence opening port 80 on your router gives the whole world access to your local network, so while webif is password protected most other services are not. My explanation may be very inadequate but yes you are VERY highly recommended to change the port number away from 80, so that when you open the port on your router access is only granted to webif - which is password protected.

You can have as many passwords as you want, the fact is that Enigma 2 webif is flawed and opening ports so it's accessible outside you home is opening your box up to hacking. My advice is to not bother streaming outside you home, if you can't survive without watching TV when you're outside your house - you watch too much TV already.

You would not believe how easy these boxes are too hack, unless you saw it for yourself, basically everything can be taken from it, files changed, box wiped or virus installed...and I'm not making this up to scare you.
