Hi all.
I have just purchased a Octagon SF4008 e2 box, and trying to get the 27 west uk freeview channels.
Ive done a scan, and it finds the channels but then i see this message after a few seconds
service invaild
(timeout reading pmt)
I understand there is a lamedb file that needs to be altered from the one in the official box, i have tried one i found on the internet but it didn't help, still got the same message.
Can anyone link to 100% working fine for this please, i`m told this box will able to pick up the signal etc if the right lamedb file is installed.
I found one on this site, but that didnt work either, is that still a working file, its quite a old file now (http://w@w.satpimps.co.uk/showthread.php?169911-27-5-west-guide)
thanks

Try this one..extract from rar...i believe you need more than just lame.db though...
bbc_pmt_starter
bbc_pmt_v6
oscam.dvbapi etc
All credits to the creators of the bbc_pmt_v6 script!
Oscam:
the standard oscam can be used that gets installed when using the wizard, no need for ymod.
But, some changes of oscam config settings are required that can be done via its web interface (port 8081):
Config/DVB-Api , PMT-mode: set to option 0. Needed to establish the type of socket communication the script is capable of.
Into folder '/etc/enigma2' goes an edited 'lamedb' file.
Get the current one per ftp,
add the data given in the 'lamedb' file given here,
prevent double entries,
issue 'init 4' which halts enigma2
upload the new lamedb with ftp,
issue 'init 3' to restart enigma2.
(each service entry consists of three lines with the middle one being the service name;
prevent typos as this will upset enigma2)
Make a key file 'constant.cw' and add it into the '/etc/tuxbox/config/oscam' folder.
An example is given here. Update its contents would the key be changed.
Add a section for this reader to 'oscam.server'; see example.
add to 'oscam.dvbapi' the A: lines as described in this thread
add into 'oscam.services' the oscam.services given here.
bbc_pmt_v6 script:
place it in /usr/bin directory and make it executable (chmod 755).
line 130, change into
s.connect_ex(("/var/volatile/tmp/camd.socket"))
See example.
The pre-start script I am not using. Rather have re-written the bbc_pmt_starter.sh script as a /etc/init.d script that gets started upon boot.
Place the bbc_pmt_starter.sh in /etc/init.d and do a 'chmod 755' so that is gets executable.
In /etc/rc3.d , rc4.d , and rc5.d add a symbolic link like this
ln -s ../init.d/bbc_pmt_starter.sh S60bbc_pmt_starter.sh
Issue '/etc/init.d/bbc_pmt_starter.sh start' to put the Python script in action. That will poll for channel changes and issue code requests to oscam.

Big thanks to dOOds
I just replaced the lamedb file with the file he attached and it is working on the channels i tested on 27 west, but now that is all i can get, so i put in the original lamedb file back in the 4008 and its all working apart from the channels at 27 west.
How do i combine the 2 files, i have entered the info from the file dOOds uploaded into the original file but no luck, after doing this i cant clear anything, everything is saying service unavailable check tuner.
I have both files, just need to combine them somehow , can anyone help me please
thanks
ps using vix image
The easiest way is to put dOOds lamedb file back on and rescan the sats that you have lost channels on, that should bring them back, the lamedb simply does not contain them.

I hadn't tried 27W for a while, so I've just checked it out.
I don't think BBC 4 broadcast any longer on that sat in HD. As for Channel 5 HD, I was able to get it, but not now for some reason. Also BBC parliament and BBC news are no longer working for me. Strange, I haven't changed anything.
Update: I was on openvix latest image. I went back to a previous image and all working now.
Further update: Reinstalled latest image. Did a manual restore of settings and now working.
great dane

Granted I do not run a e2 sat box, but just for information all free-view channels, including C4 HD, C5 HD, BBC Parliament and BBC News are clearing like a dream in Southern Portugal on a TM5402 M3

All up and working now, just a note BBC4 HD does not have a picture on it, it is just a blank screen, in SD it works, but in HD no picture no sound
thanks to all who helped
