Hi All,
Looking for a new Sat box.
This Technomate (TM Twin 4k) has HDR,
does anyone know what type of HDR,
would like it to be (HDR10+) or
(HDR HLG) or (Dolby Vision).
It's, Linux Open Embedded, H.265.
Is H.265 (HEVC) High efficiency Video
decoding.
HEVC is broadcast at 10 bit colour depth, ?.
Or, can you help point me to a better
Box.
Can I just ask, My TV has HDR10 enabled
I tuned in (with the internal 4k Sat tuner)
Hot Bird 4K 1 on (Hotbird 13e)
This channel 4K1 is broadcasting in (HEVC-H.265).
What I need to ask is, (How did it light up my HDR)
Logo, and said
(Use this HDR setting for pest picture quality).
Thanks BF.
hotbird 4k1 isn't in HDR, well wasn't the last time I looked. The 4k travel channel Travelxp or what ever its called is using HLG but has recently encrypted. HDR10+ isn't available yet. My Solo 4k ignores Dolby Vision, Not sure if its hardware or a software limitation. Theres very little content broadcast which is available on 3rd party recievers, just the odd event here and there. **** poor considering how long 4k TV's have been around. Save your money.

Hi All,
@3tv, Thanks for reply.
That was my query 3tv, why should
my HDR10 icon light up when 4k1 is
broadcasting in (HEVC) and not, as you
say broadcasting in HDR10.
If your TV has Dolby Vision enabled you
can ask VU if they have a
(Dolby Vision Firmware upgrade) for the
Solo 4k.
Until this year it was thought that
you needed the hardware V chip
installed at the factory stage to
receive (Dolby Vision).
Now Dolby Vision can be loaded
into TVs, STB, Games consul, by way
of a Software upgrade,
only problem is the manufactures have
to pay Dolby.
(Its not free like HLG and HDR10+)
Plus the new
Dolby Vision Dynamic Metadata can by
broadcast in live TV
Look at this years (2017 CES)
Netflix is now streaming Dolby Vision.
Not be long before S@Y start HLG
broadcasts,
BBC where expected to broadcast
this years Wimbledon (2017)
in HLG HDR from 28e,
never found out why not.
HLG been the international
standard for broadcast TV since
July 2016.
If your Solo has HEVC decoding enabled
you could try it on 4k1 on 13e.
What will make just about all Sat 4mpeg
channels switch to (HEVC) is it uses
50% less bandwidth then 4mpeg.
Thanks BF.
