Has anyone loaded/tried to load Plex on a Synology Diskstation NAS (I have a DS211j and a DS214play) and if so how did that go?
Thx in advance.

I did try it m8, but think it is under powered, you have to get an expensive Nas for it to work properly.

Your NAS is not powerful enough to transcode on the fly, but if a movie doesn't need transcoded it will work fine. Personally I think Kodi is far better than Plex. Both do the same sort of thing. If you don't know the difference between the two you don't need Plex and you should stick to Kodi as it's free and doesn't need any subscription to do anything.

PS,
You only really need to transcode stuff if you're streaming to a device that is not on your home network (IE via the internet), and the device you're streaming too doesn't have the correct codecs installed.

Sorry to disagree m8, kodi is only good for the ****, lol, PLEX is free, if you put IPTV (paid) its a 100% better, the one I have is instant play no buffering, sorry but i hate kodi, but its better than nothing.

Running plex on my i5 synology NAS - a DIY system, normal MB, 16GB ram, 5 x 6 TB HDD
will cope with transcoding for 2 people!
