i am trying to install openatv in multiboot,but keep getting this error
error unpacking rootfs
any help with this will be much appreciated

Then the only other thing I can think of, is your hdd or usb stick doesn't have enough free space on it.

they both have plenty of space,i will do a clean install and just put openatv on the flash

What do you call plenty of space ?

Iirc they need at least 3 times the size of the extracted image to install without error

usb has 16.029gb hard drive has 960.073gb
