Is there a USB version of the Hyperterminal recovery method please ? my Panosonic Viera HDD and DVD have crashed both my Spider 6000's.
------------------
Problem solved, I read a previous post where the box just shut down and stayed off when an lnb cable had a short circuit, I undid the lnb from the box and it booted up again ok, I went in search of the offending short checking all the cables but did not find what was causing it but the box worked ok with the dishes from then on.
Is there a usb version of a rescue file for this box like others have ?

Hi I have used Hyperterminal program a number of times to recover dead Spider 6000 boxes..I dont think you can use a USB on its own to recover the box. You need to connect the box to your laptop using RS232 cables .HyperTerminal will then detect the dead boxes memory and open the recovery options menu to transmit the recovery file STP to the box. The STP file can of course be copied to a USB and trasmitted via the USB.. Regards

Hi..It has happened to me a number of times when i have deleted satellites or TP,s...its a known bug with the 6000 boxes and its very annoying..i now do a backup of my box to USB before deleting anything. To recover your box you will need to use a program like HyperTerminal and connect your box to a laptop using RS232 cables. I am not sure if there is any other methods to recover the box as i have only ever used HyperTerminal and has worked everytime for me. Regards

The only safe way to delete transponders is with the channel editor

Hi Yes i use a standard RS232 cable with 9 pin for male and female connections. I use Windows XP laptop with HyperTerminal program. Its very easy to setup and takes about 15 minutes to complete. Once the box has been recovered you then need to upgrade with latest IKS/MSCAM software using USB. Regards
