Hi, all: My 6000 arrived the day before yesterday, sans any mescam gift (as expected). Reading the set-up guide, an appropriate patch is necessary to open up important parts of the menu. I then downloaded a mescam patch from
2016 recommended by blackdevil. However I have been unable to load the ssu file after multiple attempts (all on Kingston USBs, including a brand-new one) I cannot get the box to recognise the file, much less load it.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this? Without some sort of patch the box will simply not perform as it should.

Thanks in advance

Did you read the set up guide, and follow the link?

Make sure you have the correct patch, and try a different brand of USB stick, the cheaper ones usually work best, I tend to use an old Toshiba 8GB one, for my old Spiderbox 9000HD and newer VU+ Duo2.

On my Spiderbox 9000HD I seem to remember having to press 1,1,1,1 on the remote, to open the extra menu options, after the patch was loaded.

USB formatted FAT32?

Thanks for the replies. Yes I consulted Aldo's very useful setup guide. Blackdevil's patch from 2016 appears to be the most recent. Kingston usbs are known for getting the job done where others falter and yes they are formatted Fat32. Nonetheless, I'll check this aspect again.

It appears that I can now make progress. I eventually made my way to S/W Upgrade (under the Movie, etc grouping) and I proceeded to upgrade the 2016 patch. With that, many more items have now appeared in the Menu.
It looks as if I can take it from here and begin to shape the unit to my needs.

Many thanks again to all who suggested solutions!
