Picon help please

Hi all I got Amiko shd 8900 and I’m trying to download some missing picon logos for a few channels on 28.2 when I go into the plugins menu and press the green button it’s just a blank screen it’s not downloading anything !!!! I’m using the vix4 image

Choose and download which picons you want from here

and ftp the one you need to where to have them stored. Usually media>usb.

I don't know why you can't download them from plugins, but if you download them on you computer from the web site, then ftp then to your box.

Ok cool I've downloaded it to computer now, so do I remotely add them through the computer instead to the box? Any help on ftp it over this way pretty please please

After downloading extract using Winrar or something similar then you will need a program such as filezilla or DCC (Dreambox control centre) to send it to your box.

Nice one pal, so I just want to confirm a few steps, when I extract the ipk file it now shows as a folder is this correct please?

The file is a tar.xz file just extract it to a library on your computer then click on the file to open it then choose which picon you want.

Or delete the picons you already have, and ftp all the new ones . Although this takes quite a long time.

I don't know what you are tryng to do in webif. Just download the picon file and extract it to a library on your computer using winrar,

But how do I get it to the box, the picon plugin does not show

Forget about the plugin. You need to download either filezilla or DCC which will allow you to transfer the picons from you computer directly to your box.

Open the picon folder on the left hand side of DCC, highlight the picon you want on the rh side, click on the left facing arrow to send it across.

Did you download the file as in post #6?
Have you extracted the downloaded picons to a folder on your computer? If so open that folder on the right hand side of DCC and choose the picon you want and click on the arrow to send it across.

Yes pal did all that so thanks, when I tried to upload it it computer didn't like it lol, so I'm starting again, think I got it now, and I'm really sorry if I peed you off mate, it's been a long time since I programmed all this again lol

I'm not sure what you are doing wrong.

I think the reason you couldn't see the picons in the plugins is that you have already have them loaded on your box.

it looks like this is the ipk file allready on the box from 2017
enigma2-plugin-picons-snp-full.100x60-86x46.dark.on.blue_2017-01-30--16-38-00_all.ipk

theres a few missing so i just want to add the missing ones manually or whatever

Yes. Upzip it and send it anywhere. So when you are in DCC you have all the picons from your box on the LH side. Then open the file where you have the downloaded picons on the RH side. Then highlight to picon you want and click on the arrow to send it across. From Left to Right.

now the damn software is freezing evertime i try to do somthing Dcc error 10057

right i tranfered the hgtv logo across and it shows in the left side pane now of Dcc but on the box it does not show, i restarted GUI and i restarted the box also. any ideas guys.

could it be because its a different style i already have on the box which is called dark on blue.

It should be there. No need to restart GUI. Reconnect DCC and try again.

I done that already it didn’t work, I’m transferring the whole folder now from the picon website,it seems to be transferring but taking a long time. Fingers crossed this time 😜

I use Openvix image on my VU+solo2 and if I need to add a picon I do as I have explained and it works so I don't why yours dont show up.
I am not familiar with yours box or Vix4 but I assumed it would just be the same.
Is the Vix4 image the latest one? if it's an old one maybe that's why no plugins are available.
I sorry but I don't have more suggestions, other than change to a different image.

You could also try Openatv, it's not exactly the same, as openvix, but not a bad image:

There are also videos, showing how to use Openatv, online.

I have tried both openatv, and openvix, on my VU+ receiver, but in the end settled for openblackhole, strictly for the VU+, but there wasn't that much difference between the 3 images.

Don't forget to back up your channel list, and bouquets, using tools like dreamboxedit, it makes things easier, especially if using a motorized system.
If you only have a fixed dish then scanning in, and setting up new bouquets, should be simple.

If your receiver has a hard drive, for recording, you might want to investigate KODI, and the download options.

i just downloaded 6.4 open atv is there a guide to put this image on please,do i put box back to factory settings first before putting this on, i would like a fresh install or will the new image overwrite the exiting as i want no trace of the vix image lol

Right how can I get this picons and bouquets on the box now how can I store them on my flash drive so the box don’t get sluggish please, if it can be done !! Lol I’m still learning

Bouquets are just your favourites, so they are part of your channels, and don't go onto a USB stick.
Is your USB connected, and mounted, on your receiver?

I haven't bothered with picons, as they aren't important, to me, especially as I don't view 28.2E.
There should be many available, especially for 28.2E, try an internet search for Enigma 2 picons for Astra 2, or 28.2E picons for openatv

I think I’m nearly there now, bouquet maker was straight forward I just let it create its own stuff and everything sweet !!!!! Picons on there now finally but missing some bbc regional ones and a few more so will have to download another file and maybe snatch the few I need and drop them across!!!
Is there a way to clean up any unused files on my box to give it back it’s speed again ??

There are no bbc1 regional picons. Just the one does for all. It should be named bbc1.png and bbc1hd should be bbc1hd.png

When the kids and Mrs go to sleep I will try and download another picon set from the website and take from it and see if they come on, that openAtv image ain’t bad at all you know, at least there’s support for it
