We have a new section here , im no expert at it only been running my pc roughly 2 months with a few upgrades along the way .

I'm mining Etherium , so far ive got $200 in my wallet and $170 in the pool will be transferred in 4 days time making it $370 providing price does not drop.

Don't forget you will be using more Electricity to run this so factor that in .

Will try to add more info this week if anyone is interested , anyone also want to add info please feel free.

Probably but if anything like the company i use to work for the pc's will be the cheapest crap going , post the gpu spec rest don't make a lot of difference.

Don't laugh i was offered 10 bitcoins in 2011 for a code , they was worth £1 then , then went upto £45,000 now at just under £28k .

So if Ethereum and i will say if it does go through the roof you never know :D

EtH is under valued imo and has the potential to go to $10k. Long term though BTC is the way i would go, its not going to make you a millionaire for a while though. Watch Micheal Saylor talk Bitcoin. Makes you realise FIAT is doomed, and gold aint worth **** compared to BTC. He also blows Musks energy usage to high theory out of the water.

best thing ive watched in ages. Even The mrs now gets it.

if i had invested my $$$ into btc back in 2011 instead of buying ssd's and gpus for rainbow table chain creation i would be a billionaire now. Sux for the guy who bought a pizza with 10k BTC to.

I was far to sceptical even in 2015 when i hummed n harred about buying into BTC then., then again last year when the stock market tanked and and BTC dropped below $4k. So many missed opportunities.

im tempted to dust off the old mining rig i used from about 3 years ago and get it up and running again. It will be cool in the loft from September till June next year :)

I raided it for its 1200w power supply so that will need replacing. They have shot up in price so probably source some HP server power supplies at a fraction of the cost. Will need new PCI powered risers also. I never trusted sata powered and there will be aload more juice flowing around using todays gpu's. Even if ETH goes POS early 2022 other coins should still return a decent profit. Its all about getting the gpu's at a decent price.

edit - HP 1200w server psu bought - £49.99 (still need a breakout board)
pcie risers bought x6 - £32.99

Is it all down to the processing power of the Graphics card or are the computer specs important too?

Graphics card for mining , im running in the same pc a 2070 and a 3090 both cards mining its using about 600w i have a display on power supply.

Not mining between 350/400 w , got a 1200 power supply thinking i would need it :ack2:

I am torn between buying a complete new PC with a RTX 3090 or just the 3090.

If PC specs don't matter, I could get away with just the 3090 and put it in one of my computers that I don't often use. I think it has a suitable power supply but would check first.

Do not do it thinking you will make money ,3090 prices way outway what you will make at the moment.

3090s are available starting around £1800. even @ $10 a day thats a long ROI. 10-12 months.

my old dedicated mining rig is a celeron cpu with 4 gb of ram. I will probably have to upgrade that to 8. The mother board was designed for mining so can run 8 gpus so needs a beefy PSU. The 1200w server power supply wont be enough to run 8 cards even with under clocked power. Once ETH goes POS other minable coins aint as power friendly and need more juice.

have you dropped the power and upped the memory clocks? its worth trying t-rex and the absolute core function. It drops the power more than using afterburner etc.

use hiveos if you can. modded bios's can be loaded "virtually" onto the cards, it's much more stable than windows for tweaking.

Don't put it in the loft find somewhere in the house as it will then reduce your heating bill.

A win win there.

i had a asics equihash miner, that saved a fortune in heating but at the expense of noise. ideally you want the miner out of the way so you cant here it and duct the heat to were you need it. The nise from a 6 gpu mining rig gets annoying if your in the same room its a win win, divorce :)

shiba inu marches on. I fear it will end in tears though for a lot who pile in with FOMO.
