Hi All .
It's been a while . Hope you're all well . OK . Here we go . When I got my 2.4 dish put up back in around 2007 the guy fitted a modified 40mm 0.3 SHARP LNB with a prime focus waveguide on it . See photos . My original SHARP was taken out in a lightening strike back in 2015 . At the time I had a new spare 40mm SHARP stored away , so I opened it up and moved the waveguide on to the new LNB . And that's where I am today . However , I now want to swap it for a dual LNB . Looking around I have been able to find an INVERTO C120 twin LNB flange type for about £50 including postage .
However . Here's my question . Given that I have this waveguide on my current LNB . Will I be able to swap it over to any 40mm type if I open it up ? I'm thinking that if the fittings are all the same , then I can just buy a current decent twin 40mm LNB . Open it up , and move the waveguide again . Really , what I need to know is if all the 40mm LNBs have the same physical attributes once you take the cap off . Hope you all understood that :)
Oh . And I know my cable needs changing . That's getting done when I swap the LNB :)

I would think so, feedhorn fittings are pretty standard, however looking at your waveguide and feedhorn it doesnt seem to have the 4 standard screw holes that bolt the LNB onto it, so I think you would have to drill those yourself.
You do need to check if when you remove the feedhorn from the existing LNB that it does have the O ring inside it, if currently its not sealed with an O ring in a groove, then its never going to seal to the new C120 flange.
It might just be easier all round if you just buy a more modern prime focus waveguide that been designed to bolt to a C120 flange, I'm pretty sure they wont be expensive, but finding a new one maybe difficult, 2nd hand on our favorite action site might be your best bet.
Or you could just go down this route. Probably by far the easist option.

On my 2 meter Prime Focus dish i've been using Invacom C120 Adjustable Feedhorn with Scaler Ring and Inverto Twin Flange LNB C120 0.2db .
Example :
https://www.orbitadigital.com/en/satellite-terrestrial/antennas/accessories/713-invacom-feed-horn-adjustable-waveguide-for-c120-and-prime-focus-adf-120.html
https://www.satworld.ie/inverto-twin-flange-lnb.html
This would cost a bit of money but its still a once off purchase and with a 2.4M dish i am certain it'd be well worth spending a bit to get best possible signals across the Arc .
Your current set up and LNB Holder looks totally ideal for that set up and a straight swap i see no issues as those pics you posted show its very easily possible to make happen .
As for Sat Cable i went for good quality Black CT100 Satellite Cable (100m) as its well suited for the very wet weather and we get plenty of that no shortage water here :thumb:
Good luck : )

Hi Ian ! How's it going . See you're still here :)
Thanks for replying . Yeah . I have another standard waveguide here (attached) with the 4 holes . To be honest I can't remember how my current waveguide connects to the SHARP . It's been almost 10 years since I opened it up . As you say the 4 holes aren't showing . Do all standard 40mm LNBs have the 4 holes once you remove the end cap ? I don't know . I really don't want to dismantle the SHARP again to look and see . It's had 10 years of pretty extreme weather and the plastic is probably pretty brittle . I might just bite the bullet and buy another new twin flange LNB . Once I've fitted it then I can maybe disassemble the SHARP again to see what's what .
Cheers !

All standard C120 LNB's have the 4 holes and the O ring seal with a grove that the O ring sits in.
It looks like your other waveguide will match perfectly to a C120 LNB.

Yeah . I meant the standard 40mm Universal type LNBs . I can't remember what my SHARP looked like once I removed the end cap . Cheers

Well . New Inverto twin LNB fitted and new cable installed . Next I'm going to open up the SHARP LNB to see if I can use that flange feedhorn on other standard 40mm LNBs .
