LNB & long cable run

Can anyone recommend a decent LNB for a 90ft cable run? I seem to remember in the past people saying that higher noise LNB's can actually be better for long cable runs is this true or should I be going for a 0.3 or 0.2? Currently using a 0.7.

i have 2 dishes and both have the invocom 0.3db i have a 1m funkie and a 1.2m channel master it is about 60 foot from my reciver to the dishes and i dont seem to have any problem with the lenght of cable im using

0.7db is fairly high these days. A 0.2db LNB is certainly better at pulling in weaker signals. As to your question whether a higher value is better for longer runs of cable, i would think not, at least i have never heard of it.

OK, thanks guys. I'll grab a new lower noise LNB - is there a particular manufacturer/model that I should be looking for? I Don't mind spending a little extra for the improved performance.

The invacom 0.3db is supposed to be one the best, but for half the money you will pick up a 0.2db Lemon or inverto. the Lemon i have found to be very good and there is a 3 year warrenty.

i bought an invacom 0.3db 2 weeks ago from sat shop 25 quid not bad for one of these

I use a 0.3 Invacom at the start of a 120ft run from a 120 Cm dish. cable is
now 20years old gives me no trouble apart from water ingress, cured by
taping plastic bottle over LNB and feedhorn.

Thanks again for all the helpful replies. I think I'll grab a invacom 0.3 then hopefully next time the WWE feeds are available I'll be able to pull them in. ;)

The Invacom seems to be well over-priced by today's standards, it appeared well before most (or all) of its competitors and has retained the higher price tag which was perhaps justified at the time. I should only go for the Invacom if you happen to know it is particularly well matched to your own dish.

Well, without mentioning any names I can get the 0.3 Invacom for a very fair price from a leading UK electronics engineer supplier. ;)

Your choice, Monaro. If your supplier is the 3 letter one in the NW, still pricey to my way of thinking - also a rather fragile cover on the feedhorn unless they've changed. Have you checked with Goldwafers?

Yep, they only stock one LNB and that's currently OOS.

I using a sharp .3 db with a run of about 150 ft no problem
and thats connected to my dreambox 7000 not the best tuner in the world

More important would be to make sure you have top spec coax. No point in getting a good LNB if the coax is crap.

You could also consider fitting an in-line amp near the LNB (I think about 1 to 2 metres from the LNB is best) if the signal is too weak.
