I have just bought a T/T 500 2nd hand and everything was ok till i tried to d/load some updates.

Now it looks as if i have wiped the SD Disk and cannot eitherformat it or add anything.

Any help would be most welcome.

PS

When i put the Sd Disk in the displays shows it being removed and a red X then goes over it.

Try using a card reader & see if you can get anything off your memory card. Have you made a full back up of your card ? If you still need to format your memory card you should be abe to use a card reader - choose the 'FAT' option - not the 'FAT32' one.
Tomtom software can be obtained from the Tomtom site if required and map copies can be found elsewhere :D :D.

I think i have messed up by deleting everything on the Sd card.

Does this mean i will have to buy a new SD Card with the maps already on it.

I wish i hed never started messing about with it now. LOL

It should do, but don't panic, you might be able to bet the Tomtom software from the Tomtom site.
Will send you a PM for the map.

Alternatvely, I have a TTG 500 and have plenty of backups which I could send you piecemeal to get u back up and running, so long as this is a genuine request - I do not want to get caught in any sort of scam.

Dave.

Have a look at the PM I sent you - there's a link to get the latest Tomtom software on there - connect your tomtom to your pc & run the software on your pc. The other link I sent you is for a site where you can find a few maps. Did you get a credit size card with a code on it when you bought your tomtom ?

I had the same problem m8, and it was the memory card was (no good), so I got a new card and all ok now, as Fred said use a card reader, you can get the maps off the net.

@Russell1
What's the credit sized card for? Got one with my 910 but it's still in it's wrapper!

Russell1

Thats for your activation code but you shouldn't need it unless you have problems & need to re-install your map. (Hope you've made a full back up of your 910 aswell)

Russell1 - Thanks for your help.

I have managed to fix with your help.

I also think that the SD card was faulty as it no longer works.

Bought a new one, and with the info you gave.

I now have a t/t that works.

Cheers m8ty

Lol - good - you'd be surprised how many don't make a full back up & only realise when it's too late.

:frown: My Go910 died tonight. Can't get my computer to even acknowledge it's presence. It won't switch on/off just got a pale grey screen. Any ideas before it goes back to Comet?

I don't have that model, but under the Go700, where the docking unit connects, there is a very small hole for the reset function. I had similar symptoms as you, and after calling the Tomtom support desk, and pushing a pin in the hole for 10 seconds, leaving it a few seconds, and then pressing the power on button, the unit came back to life:)

:D I love this forum!! Found the hole, pressed the button and lo and behold, we have life! Thank you Dr. Paulos. I would never have found that out un-aided - there's no mention of a reset button anywhere in the User Guide.

Good to hear that your unit is resurrected :)

:D Not much good having a backup if you can't talk to your machine! Can you suggest a "free" source for files with all the speed cameras and high risk areas for the UK. I resent paying large subs to TomTom but will if I must.;)

I hope that we still get camera updates as we did on Dudez.

Rapidshare links have been posted for Divx movies on satpimps so don't see any harm in links to tax collecting machines. :D

Indeed, I hope so too!

@Admins,

As per Russell's post above, please can you let us know if details of how to find maps, speed cameras files, etc are permitted on the now forum.

Thanks

Just to remind you that current Board rules state the following:

5) you can ask what is needed to do certain jobs , like say a modchip for ps2 , BUT not where to buy them , and its also not allowed to tell others where to buy stuff like that on the open forum.

As usual google and other file searching directories are a good place to start.

Pm's also keep stuff OFF the open forum

Whether or not you get a subscription for speed cameras, friendly souls like Russell have pointed us where we can download the files needed.

Either legitimately (or otherwise), you should be able to load the latest Tomtom app and maps, on the different Tomtom versions. The main issue is how much memory space is needed. As long as you have enough memory space for the app and map(s), it should work.
