everything works fine here ,

dummy card is not needed anymore .

0+menu brings up the emu/key settings .

biss/static dw format has changed , last two bytes of pmt/pcr required
instead of both pmt bytes like before .

dsr studio/editor works fine .

It seems that maestro MAHDI made it really well as it's all going smoothly now... Easy-peasy... I posted it in the HOW TO thread but here it is again, just in case...

BLOODY WELL DONE, MAHDI!!! Now we need to learn how to share and change the keys remotely etc.:)

BRAVO, AGAIN!!!;):D

1) Samsung DSR 9500 VIA CI [HW 504, Loader 500 or 501] on Standby

2) Connect to the PC via straight serial cable

3) Start Samsung DSR Studio 1.0 Editor by MAHDI

4) Choose FW Loader TAB

5) Choose Serial Port

6) Click on Send FW and then choose which EMU [and it's away, racing...]

7) Wait untill you see the clock on Sammy Display

8) Start Sammy [on FTA channel, just in case], check it, then put it on Standby

9) Click on RAM Editor Tab in the Samsung DSR 9500 Studio Editor by MAHDI

10) Choose Serial Port, then Open File, then click on Write and wait for the clock again

11) You'll see "Insert smartcard" message, then re-start Sammy

12) At this point I would [and I am going to]
Menu -> Channel organising -> Delete all channels and then
Menu -> Installation -> Manual Scanning and do your own settings list

13) Experiment with various cards

14) Sort out the GBox and Card Sharing bits...

Mahdi, m8, a suggestion:
We could do with a bit of an editor/controls of all the CS options [2 pieces of SW]. Both as a Server via a programmer in the Phoenix mode and as a Client. [I mean on the PC itself...]

THANKING YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

MAHDI FOR PRESIDENT!!!

To stop Sophos Anti-Virus preventing you running Samsung DSR Studio.exe

Go to Run and type CMD
Then type the following to stop the xp services:

net stop "Sophos Agent"
net stop "Sophos Anti-Virus"
net stop "Sophos Anti-Virus status reporter"
net stop "Sophos AutoUpdate Agent"
net stop "Sophos AutoUpdate Service"
net stop "Sophos Message Router"

Do the same but use "start" instead of "stop"

After uploading firmware to Sammy, it sometimes doesn't start up.
Also Sammy stuck at SAMSUNG screen:eek:

But Sammy is not dead:D
Just do a very hard reset, with power-switch on backside.
After this Sammy will startup with new emu.;)

No JTAG is required, because reloading firmware will NEVER harm the bootloader !

ps. beware of ESD and connect GND before attatching cable to Sammy/PC

Thanks to DSR9500!

All up and working for me but be careful of key reset as it has killed a few 500 loader versions but tested okay with my 501.
Tps is worse than ever though cant hold for more than a couple of mins but i may need updating buut cant find any files newer than what i already have at the mo.

raul

forget about tps it doesn't work on any gear !

the minute you are able to clear it is when they are
uploading new AES keys , this occurs every ten minutes .
during upload them channels work on plain via1 .

goran thanks for reply, but this seems more serious than anything before ,switching on and off and holding left arrow key on front has no effect at all , there is no life at all and no lights at front of sammy.you have helped a lot in the past but like i said , this seems more serious.

guys

i loaded everything, and as i see gold card in a sammy is not needed anymore? and why i should rescan all c****s? its in a sammy is it makes any sense?

do u get TPS working i get it but after 10 s it goes off

forgot to ask, when i go to system information i get

Loader version 501
Main Soft version 133
Hardware version 504

are these for you also?

goran
02-12-2006, 01:57 PM
To get the channels to work, Moon, that's why. Some make their settings lists by importing the lot from *********, so, inevitably, some won't work until you rescan that transponder.

We thank them for their good work, of course but Sammy likes to have it his way...;) :)

McDude
02-12-2006, 02:05 PM
No need for dummy conax card MOON. I actually saved my channel list first then did a factory default before installing, then loaded channels back

If your method worked and you had no problems then fine, no need for a re-scan

This isn't a fix for TPS so don't expect it to work

I have the same loader as you, 501, so you're o.k. Only those with 500 loader seem to be having the problem

what is the best receiver out now .new firmware gold has killed sammy and doesn't look like any solution what is the best reciever at reasonable price.

Jambo

Hello Sammy M8's

Did the same as McDude, saved the channel list with SetEdit, and then reinstalled said list with SetEdit ater loading the EMU and RAM, and it worked just fine, the only problem I had was to figure out how to add/remove/and edit BISS-providers to my own preferance, but that is also sorted out by now.
Personally, the Gold EMU is the best that I have experinced, so a BIG thank you to MAHDI for his excellent work.

Not only could I remove the dummy card from the Sammy, I also removed the Dragon Cam, because with the Studio Editor, there is no more need for a Cam.

Hope that the update-fix to 501 is in progress, so that the people with 500 loaders, also soon can experince the best ever Sammy EMU.

Cheers,
Jambo

From what i read on papagens, only way is jtag

liamski
03-12-2006, 09:32 PM
j-tag seems very complicated to me,from what i can gather it is all making leads ,and soldering inside sammy.this is a different story than programming cards, ram files ,editors and emu,s.i was looking forward to emu gold but now seems i was to keen, and paid the price( dead sammy).

McDude
04-12-2006, 12:01 AM
Yes it does look like a complicated process. I wouldn't do it myself unless i had to.

Sorry to hear that about your sammy. Maybe you can find a sat shop that will do it for you

My Sammy must be an older model because it has a JTAG socket inside so no soldering if I can get or make a lead to my JTAG board.

Edit: I have now seen detailed instructions on Papagen's by Okaso66, who has got his Sammy working using revive_ultra and jtag.

Confirm that reflashing via jtag using the bits and pieces from Revive_Ultra and Sammy jtag loader 501 have brought the STB back to normal. With STB now also with loader 501.

Allegedly, when taxatively pointing out the bugs in 4.1, it appears that if you have Loader 501 then Gold 4.0 is better for you, as 4.1 keeps loosing the keys etc.;)

For now, as the bugs are being ironed out, as we report them to Master Mahdi...;):)

Just 3 screws at the back, then just above the smart cart reader on the right. You will either see the 20 pin socket, or you will see an empty space if it doesn't have it.

Hi, m8 I was wondering If I can use this JTAG(arm), It has 20 pin contact here is its connector layout : h**p://www.olimex.com/dev/images/arm-jtag-layout.gif
