If i was to get one of these, if i was able to get hold of the latest maps & speed camera sites, could i load them on to it and would they work ok :confused:

Yes and Yes.

The only proviso being that the SD card has to be large enough for the map and poi files that you want to load onto it. The original card for the ONE GB is not large enough for the Western Europe map. Suggest you go for a 2GB card rather than a 1GB so you'd have plenty of space.

The good news is that there is a working keygen available for all of the dedicated Tomtom units - it's been tried & tested on all of these :- Go 300, 500, 700, 510, 710, 910, Classic, Rider, One & One V2 - so any of the new maps will work now.. You will need to upgrade the firmware to V6 on your unit - available free from Tomtom, but you'll have to find the keygen & maps :D :D

And to remember that if you are upgrading your maps to :
(a) take a backup of your existing files on the TT
(b) remember to copy any favourites/poi's/speed cam files from the backup to your new map folder :frown:

Yes joelam, there is a keygen that will work with ALL of the dedicated Tomtom units as in post no 4 in this thread :D :D

I can get my hand on the maps for europ and some other places but i am not very good at how to ....i dont even know what is a keygen .....i have been to one of this middleeasten foums and they have maps evrywhere lift right center but not sure if they would work that way poped the Q....

If you go to the site I PM'd you you'll find maps for Western Europe V660.**** (& most other TT maps) and you will find a working keygen on there. You will need to have a 2gb memory card if you want the Western Europe map on your unit & you will also have to have software version V6 - the latest one out now is V6.520 & is available free from the Tomtom site.

Anyway this is what i have donne
Downloaded the file for spain and portugal
Downloaded the file Keygen
Made a folder in my disktop called joetom
copied keygen to it
copied the file midi whish i think it the right one but not sure it was the only file that had midi..from es_map_....to the folder joetom
went to window /start/all prog/accessor/comand promt
*cd c:\ enter
c:\> cd joetom enter
after enter this message came out <the system can not find the path specified>this is how far i am basically not too far
i know i am not the brighest star in the sky when it came to computers jargon but i will try

Put your folder on your C drive, not on your desktop - thats why in the instructions it says to create a new folder named keygen on your C drive (no mention to put it on desktop).

Thankyou very much I will try that .But in the meantime does anybody know where I can get my tomtom Go ,mended I just dropped it, it is still working but the screen is not lighting up, it is but very faint as I said where can I get it mended somewhere near me ,I live in Leicester . I am lost without it if you get my drift...I am not having a good day her indoors went bolistic when she found out what happened I am in the dog house tonight !You can have a giggle at my expense lads if you want !!!

No! Loads of sympathy. One small error and a load of grief.


Just slapped TomTom repairs into Gooooooooogle and there are loads. Which is best is anyones guess. Good Luck.

I've been following Russell's instructions re using command prompt, however when i get to :-
c:\keygen>key.exe uk_and_........etc, and hit enter i get the following message:-
"key.exe" is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file.
Anyone got any ideas.

The keygen file - 'key.exe' & the .mid file - eg. UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE. mid should be in a folder named keygen on your 'C' drive - C:\keygen
If you still have problems let me know the exact map version number & name (you can find this out if you open up the .PNA file with notepad) - eg :-

id=79764, your Device ID & what unit you are using it on & I'll try to generate a code for you.

put a space between C:\keygen> and key.exe
simple as that mate.

another tip for you is to just rename the midi file that you placed inside the keygen folder to just map.
it saves typing in the full map name with underscores ect.
so your line would be just
C:\keygen> key.exe map.mid
ian.

There is another way to use the keygen - open up the command prompt window, then drag & drop the key.exe into the window - then hit space bar (once) then drag & drop the Map_Name.mid file & hit enter. Should now be able to enter the Device ID.

OK - when you try to open up the new map (there are newer & better maps than v660.1223) you will get your device ID - a 10 digit code. Enter this into the keygen & you'll get your activation code to enter into your Tomtom.
I'd advise you to get the new V675 map & new postcode file.

:) :)I've taken your advice and downloaded the latest maps & post code files, now just need a bigger SD card, probably a 2g one, as they seem fairly cheap at around &#163;10 on the web.
