View Full Version : tm(s) 1500 - any good?
I've noticed in the past that when the t-rex was down the tm1500 was still opening, like at the moment with tps, albeit with daily update I think. The game appears to have changed but t-rex cant play for lack of memory. Would this model be a solution to the never ending cam purchases, is it well supported with patches, and has it been made with the future in mind ie. the current climate of rapid key rolls. I know there are others that do similar things - dreamboxes etc, but I've heard these can be a little 'labour intensive' Any advice appreciated.

Very user friendly.
Well supported.
Very good price.Remember the null modem cable.
i got one a few months ago replacing my old echostar, have not looked back since, easy to use and lots more versatile, not much happening at the moment though, in the way of patches, unless you want to chase tps, regards

Owners of particular STBs will always praise those STBs - like in everything else, it's only human nature.
But I think the Technomate 1000 series are superb machines, and very well suported. For not much more than the price of a CAM they really are excellent.

are there any tm"s with 36v o/p positioner, as i dont fancy an extra box to convert the diseq o/p.
The tm really does seem to offer good value,. i am tempted.

As far as I know mate no there isn't since Diseq is the standard for these receivers today so if you need to move a big dish then a V Box 2 is the solution I'm afraid.
Personally I think it stinks because I never really rate Diseq since it is slow and it is rubbish when it comes to big satellite dishes let alone a insurance risk so 36 volts motors are the best for me.
Hope it answers your question my friend.;)

Must agree with the above.......
TM make some great little STBs but why-oh-why can't they offer at least one of them (TM1500?) with a 36V positioner option???
DisEqC is all very clever but it simply doesn't have the speed and 'grunt' of a 36v H-H motor on a large dish......and if its windy......watch out for UFOs!

i with you on that but the vbox is so small and you can hide it behind the tv so it's not all bad .\ i got mine of e**y for £ 12.00 and it was new , and you whould pay alot more for a 1500ci with a board in it ,

In the end the V-Box might be the way I have to go........anyone able to comment on how reliable / accurate these are over a period of time (as compared to an stb with a built-in 36V board)?

I suppose the way that Technomate look at it is that they want to manufacture a great value STB which will work, straight out of the box, for most people. Adding hardware which most people wouldn't use would increase the cost of the STB for everyone, but only add functionality for some.

I think you're probably right, although they do produce quite a few variants of the various models to meet varying user needs.
No 36V option on any of them does seem a bit odd....but, as you say, they'll have their reasons.

You can use any satellite receiver with a fixed dish. Soem receivers can't be used with "motorised dish" eg sly box.
As for which is better I can only tell you the 1500 is well supported and easy to use.

the 1000 , 1500 and 1600 can all be patched m8
the 1000 usually has no slots but can have them added
the 1500 usually has 1 card slot and 1 cam slot ( the one I currently use )
the 1600 has 2 card slots and 2 cam slots
so as you can see the main differences are the cam and card slot availability
but bear in mind you must use the correct patches and loaders from al s*t

Hi, I can't find a 1600ci with card slots? The one on the tecky site has 2ci only. If there is such a variant I would be interested to know more.Regards wireman.
