I have had a play on the TM-9100 at one of my local dealers with the latest Juliet image. I have a Dreambox 7020 so I just went in to see what this receiver is like.

The image was good. The blue panel is like the Dreambox so you can download emulators, plugins, etc. They had Gbox running on it and they said that it is running smoothly with their server and it works with all cards. They said that the first image reset now and then but the latest image has not reset on them yet.

Menu wise, it is basically the same as the Dreambox as it runs on Enigma.

The tuner is better than the Dreambox 7020 as they had both of them side by side. We tried some of the higher Transponders on Hotbird and those on Nilesat on a 1.1m Triax dish and the picture broke up on the Dreambox 7020 but it was perfect on the TM-9100 which is a big plus.

The memory card reader is a good addition and the guy said it was for downloading software, playing music, etc.

The main feature I liked the most was the boot up from standby and power off. Standby was instant boot up and power off/on took about 10 seconds!!!

They sold it for £240 which is a good price but I am waiting for HD!

thanks for that mate.

with techonmates they have a rep for good tuners and the dreambox with quite poor ones. They shudve got hd on it to give it an edge over dreambox

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a good receiver.

I think I will wait for an HD box as it will be a better long term investment.

I bought 9100 couple of weeks ago for £199 plus another £40 for 160GB HD.

New firmwares released a while ago and now the receiver its pretty stable after testing it. Earlier images were problematic. I tested gbox 2.1 and patched plus all variations of 2.25 and they all work with no problems. G-box centre and suite work too. 9100 has no usb like dreambox.

I would highly recommend this box. Only downside I have found thus far is the skins.

Would a Dragon Cam patched for Viasat with original card work in there?

the main things i would have thought are, how big a harddrive can u install, is the pic quality good as dreambox, are the menus better than the technomate 1500ci. i would have thought thats image dependent ?. can it use dreambox images as stated on some sites ? anyone know where their are some good pics of the menus and sytem etc. just a thought. :) oh what about patches etc.

I am certain that as it being offered at bargain prices and it is linux operating there will be a lot of images available to try shortly.
As with the dreambox when it first started, a few hiccups adds to the fun.

A

right there, this is the reason for cheap sales maybe the box cant get any stabler than it is, I dont know but its been out there for long.

I hope stability will not be a long term problem as i am going to get one anyway, the price for what you get seems to be a real bargain.

A

yes that is a company offer I see many sellers selling for the same price.

Juliet image works well on it. Very stable. I dont think its long before gemini make images.

On tech specs it kills dreambox 7020s nearly every time. But the 7020s has had a 3 year run and this is the new kid on the block

I have installed my box and found updating the firmware as easy as pie using an SD card. Down loads are fast from the internet, and networking was a breeze. Manual updating via FTP is fast and easy.
So far the image i have installed is stable and fast zapping of channels OK, no lock ups as of yet.
My next job is to install a hard drive, if it is as easy as the rest of the set up i will be well pleased.

what image and emu are you running and can you put keys in using your remote?

goodolddad
30-05-2007, 04:11 PM
The image is UR-006, emu is mgcam downloaded from internet, keys downloaded from internet and then edited via ftp direct to the box.

zad

still awaiting my box, will have a good play with a few images and emu's, shame you cant stick the keys in with the remote but i will have to turn my pc on to get the keys anyways so no loss there.

im tempted to try the juliet images first but may turn to the ur images after that if im not happy

cheers for the info and i will post back once i get my box and have had a good play with it.

i will also try to build up a good files section and help section once i get my head around it

from what i can see so far the juilet 5 and 6 are just "upgrades" and not full releses hence why 3 has to be installed first!

For the box to work properly you need to load the original 05 image then the juliet image .. You dont need to go back to the 03 image but it wont hurt if you do..
Loading the image by SD card is the easiest and best way to start if you have an SD card:p
