THANKS GUYS!!!!

LOL - you'll find something else to read about im sure...

:)

How heavy is a scaffold pole - LOL!

We nearly gave up, but didnt realise how far to the right the dish had to go - then BEEEEEEEEEEEEP and BBC World on 1 west appeared (as if by magic)

Few queries.

Now im using a dual LNB i have one box downstairs (the master motor controller) and one upstairs.

query 1:

I can get all sats to the east - but after 30 WEST - i cant get anything on 43 or 45w - is bandamax, etwn1 still on there, and is anything on 45w?

is my arc out??

query 2:

the box downstairs picks up c****5 and italia 1 etc on 13e - but when i do a full scan on the box upstairs it (second input from LNB) it picks up about 500 channels - but theres no c****e5 or italia4 - and when i do a manual scan it finds nothing. rai1 etc are fine....

any ideas?

Re 43W and 45W, don't forget that the further the position from South, the lower it is in the sky. In the first photo, it looks like the roof on the left might come into play?

hmmm - but that roof is EAST mate - i can receive all the east sats.

PS that pic was taken before alignment - 1west - the dish points at 90 degree angle from my gutter line to the right.

any ideas on the c****e5 thing?

im gonna take the connection out of downstairs box, and put it into the one upstairs and do a scan and see what happens

Have you tried 42 east or 45 east to see if the roof is in the way.Leave your scaffolding up just incase you may need to fine adjust.

You are right mate (re East and West) :)

Re the Italian channels, check the TP settings. If that doesn't fix it, try swapping the receivers to see if the problem follows the receiver or the LNB.

the new mediapark channels are on 43 west so might be worth looking for a signal on those

looks like my TWIN lnb is ****.

i thought a twin LNB outputted the same channels to each connection...?

the master (driving the motor) seems to pick everything up (800 odd channels on hotbird)

but my one upstairs (the 2nd output) is only picking up half that!!!

WHY WHY WHY!!!

Definitely a lnb problem,I have a twin lnb and both perform equally,so now you have had plenty of practice on ladder climbing get it back to the shop lol.looks like we can still have a few more posts, keep em coming.

Ahhh - everyones been so nice to me.

THANKYOU!!!

Bit peeved about the 43 and 45 west thing tho - all the East sats are spot on inc 45E - but as it goes west, the signal isn't as strong, altho i do get about 70% on Hispasat - but 13 degrees further west - it just doesnt get 43 or 45w - maybe its not my ARC - but more of an obstruction maybe (altho i cant see it)

:o(

I might have to get back on the ladder...maybe in the summer - LOL!!!

Luckily 22west and 12.5west are my fave sats for WWE feeds = and hopefully - going by the fact that i can get Hispa ok - im sure i will be able to get these ones.

As for the LNB issue - its weird - i was using the manhattan st300 box to drive the dish from my lounge (master input), and the other feed was going up stairs into my topfield 5500 - BUT this is where i had problems.

If C****e5 was on downstairs - and i did a search on hotbird on the topfield - it only found half its channels - c****e5 not picked up at all !

So i swapped the LNB connections to the boxes over - this time i drove the dish by the topfield - and the manhtaan had the 2nd input - this then picked up all channels - AND the manhattan could still get C****e5 and ALL channels.

STRANGEEEEEE!!!!

Theres always one!

In the bedroom I had to take the blind off to drill a hole for the incoming cables - the roller blind in the bog just happened to be up - and the same as for the kitchen!!

I could do with a scaffolding platform like that - did you hire it or buy it. What sort of cost is it for such a thing ... and is it easy to erect?

ManikM
15-01-2007, 11:58 PM
haha - nah its my dads - hes had it about 20 years - its about 2 sections per layer - so about 8 bits all in all - just plonk it all together - takes about 30 mins to assemble mate (you need board as well)

and yes its easy to assemble (much easier than getting a scaffold pole and dish above the eaves - LOL)
