Dont know if this question has been asked before.
is it possible to connect the humax 5400 and download files with any other means than the null modem cable.ie router or usb or even infared the reason for asking is my sons desktop is in the bedroom and the reciever is in the other room its just to save running the cable from one room to the other.
the answer might well be no but thought it would be worth asking the question.

any thoughts on this be obliged.
paddyboy.

Hi paddyboy,

I think there is a solution with a couple of Ethernet/RS232 converters Wi-Fi ;)
I made a post recently at ToH Board about this solution for another user :
Will send url of posting in PM ;)

hello crazy sat nice to see you posting in here mate!!!!

not to put a downer on things paddy boy but i have tried this with no success im afraid, i used the method described by crazy sat however it did not work, im not saying that the theory behind it will not work but it think its going to be some hardware will work and others will not. its all going to be about how well you can configure the rs232 posts on the wifi ethernet bridges.

not to mention this would work out way more expensive than a massive long null modem cable

Not sure why you mention USB but you can use a USB to RS232 adaptor with a Null modem attached
