LG are gonna make a killing

LG have announced a Blu-Ray/HD DVD player (Super Multi Blue BH100) hitting the shelves mid summer and at about £700.00 you know you'll want one.:p
Always knew someone would do it, but surprised at how quickly they have released it, usually milk it before releasing new developments, as its well known that what we see on the shelves was developed years ago, they have to re-coup those costs first before releasing newer stuff.
Wonder whats next...LG are beginning to lead the field, already 3D tv, super high resolution phone screens (which i mentioned last year) and also mirror mobile phones (Shine), which has a reflective surface until you activate it and the mirror surface fades to reveal the screen (seen it on large TVs but not a phone!!!)

P.S. forgot to mention that they also have a computer drive, model GGW-H10N and available around the same time, capable of playing HD DVDs and playing and recording Blu-ray discs at up to 4x speed. It can also read and write DVDs and CDs.

A stupid thing I did was to buy a DVD writer when they first came
out write speed x1 hardly used, just over £200-00. When they drop
to the standard 40ish pounds may take a look. Until then they can
keep them !!

Yes, but PS3 only plays one format. The LG plays both, and at £500.00 for a PS3 the LG is only £200.00 shy... at the moment.

It`s starting to look like LG`s dual technology box isn`t going to be all that great. It has no support for the HDI layer on HD-DVD (used for the menus and other interactive content) and only supports HDMI 1.2, not 1.3. For this reason it looks like they`re not going to be able to use the HD-DVD logo, as it doesn`t meet the hardware requirements.

Sony anouced yesterday that the PS3 will be out on the 1st March RRP £425, That price to be honest sounds too good for me. Not only do you get an advanced games console that also plays all your golden oldies (for PS1 & PS2), but also gives you a Blu-Ray DVD Player!!

How will the likes of standard DVD Players with Blu-Ray functions cope with that price?

I say watch this space and let the PS3 help lower the prices on the Blu-Ray / HD-DVD players and guaranteed we will be paying a fraction of the high prices of the items now.

Hi..

Got a mate who works for sony...and out of the 2000 ps2 titles...only 300 are playable on the ps3...all others are either unplayable or buggy...with the current ps3 firmware....I hope they can Iron out the bugs by release...Also release date is March 23rd...
