View Full Version : would the snow have affected my motor
Hi guys
I went to move my dish today and it just isnt moving.
I have tried it with both my dreambox and fortec and the only time I can get it to move is when is if I move it manually from the setup menus. Even then it only very slightly nudges it and to move from 13e to 19e it took about 20 odd nudges. I have been outside to listen to the noise it makes when being nudged and it is just a puffy little squint.
Do you guys think the snow/ice might have something to do with it?

The snow/ice could well affect it. I know that one of my motors (HH90), makes a squealing noise when changing position, if the outside temperature is well below zero.
I guess the answer is to wait until it warms up and dries out - then test it again. It is also worth checking the f-connectors to make sure that no damp has got in.

yea i was gonna wait for it to warm up
its a pain though i just got my dreambox today and was gonna set it all up

Very frustrating! It has warmed up a lot here now (6.9 degrees), and all the snow has melted.

i aint sure what kinda dish drive it is but the db is a 7020.
I went up to the dish this afternoon and tested the motor. Seems to work ok-ish. I have now lifted the sat wire out of some gutters where it was sitting in freezing cold water. Will give it a few hours and test again
What you were describing would happen with a Jack to drive your Dish and if the motor has plastic cogs they some times shed there teeth so take care when you keep stopping and starting under load.
As to the Dreambox if it was a 500s they are a bit short on power and that would have been another Reason,so one or two owners use a 2 amp 12 volt power supply instead of the one that came with it.
That was the reason for my question.
H-H stab motors Operating temperature -40°C - +80°C
