S-Video Clinch ?

I've been looking at the spec of the X200 range and one line states:
S-video output (Clinch). I cannot see any S-Video connectors at the back of the receiver and none of the 2 scarts have S-Video. Could somebody please put me out of my misery and explain (Clinch)?

Jimbo, on the manual I've downloaded, the video signal choice is only for RGB or Composite.

2 Select Media Settings using the Arrow (▲/▼) buttons and press the Arrow (◄/►)
buttons to make changes.
• TV System: PAL, SECAM, NTSC, and AUTO
• TV Aspect Ratio: You can set the aspect ratio of your TV. (4:3 or 16:9)
• Video Aspect Ratio: You can select the display format according to TV screen ratio.
(Letter Box, Pan & Scan, Mixed, or Full)
• Video Signal Type: RGB or Composite
• RF Channel: You can select the UHF channel for the TV. (K21 ~ K69)

I would like to know where you downloaded the manual
With my receiver I have a X200TS series manual In the
manual there is no mention of S-Video Clinch ,
Anyway all is not lost.
I have a X221TS-CI receiver and if you go to Media Settings-
Video Signal Type you find _RGB_YPbPr_ Composite.
It is supplied to the scart connector.
If you read the review by Dr Dish . all info is there

Jimbo I appreciate that you are trying to help me. In case I haven't made it obvious, I am researching before I buy a Vantage Receiver. I downloaded the Manual from L**rals. As I understand matters, YPbPr or YUV refers to Component video and not S-Video. All the specs for the X221SCI I've seen on the WEB for this receiver are as follows, I'm still confused.

The S-video comes from the scart Connectors
You need a special lead, Scart on end and a S-video plug
& 2 phono the other From M*****s.
From your first post I understand that you are thinking of buying a
Vantage
RGB will give the best picture

I am familiar and I have all the adapters and connectors you mentioned and more. In theory, if you can get s-video from your scart adapter, then there is S-video from scart. I prefer to get S-video direct from TV scart - personal preference - and also to connect to my DVD recorder which gives v. good S-video picture. I have sent Vantage an e-mail and will let you know if I get a reply.

And the word clinch can be used as:
Scart connection adapter with seperation clinch outputs for S-video and a.n.a.l.ogue audio left/right. This could be used for example to connect to a VGA monitor adapter.

@ mjn - we will get there eventually. Still no reply from Vantage, someone said it takes them about 1 week to answer, we shall see. I was hoping that 'CLINCH' could be a mispelling for cinch which I believe is another name for a phono plug. The logic behind my assumption is that they also use the same bracketed word for Audio output which clearly is a phono plug at the back of the receiver. But what about S-Video?:cool:

Sorry page 63, I don't want adapters!!!! I simply want to know if I can get S-video directly from Scart. One end of scart lead in the back of receiver and the other in my TV, Comprende?

Until someone in the know corrects me, my understanding is as follows.

A receiver gives an S-video picture only if it's electronics, internal wiring and software permit it. If these conditions are not met, no matter how many adapters one uses, S-video is not obtainable. Adapters are only used to facilitate different connection methods and they do not change the signals carried down the wires.

I am almost convinced that the Vantage receiver does NOT offer S-video and it only gives CVBS, RGB and Component video. There may be an onscreen software error or a misprint in the specs, which is what I am trying to determine. I hope there is S-video and if there is I'll buy a Vantage tomorrow.

On the back of my X221S CI ( 2 con + 2 XCrypt ) there is only a scart
connector and A/V outputs ( 3 x BNC connectors, Video, Audio left and Audio right ). The scart is RGB or Composite. Also there is an Optical output.
No S-Video as far as I can see. The optical output is S/PDIF maybe that is
where the S-Video is taken from but I doubt it.
The technical spec states that there is also a 12v output connector but
there is not on mine ?

ALSO STILL KNOWONE HAS SAID WHAT THE LETTERS " C.L.I.N.C.H. " ACTUALLY STANDS FOR ??????

The correct word is Cinch
Cinch is a world wide manufacture of
electrical connectors all the connectors on
the back of the receiver are made by Cinch
it is a translation problem.
S-video . S stands for seperated Y/C video (in three cables )
you get improved picture quality
The S-video is available on the Tv output scart (made by Cinch)
you can use a Scart to Scart cable if you have the correct scart to
connect to Im told It might be a special cable you can buy them
Phono plugs or RCA connectors are also made by Cinch
The S/PDIF (optical) is audio only

well how can it do so if you dont have a S-Video output?
I have RGB scart i one end and S-Video in the other end and it works for me but if it gives out put signal s-video or RGB that i dont know

When the spec of the receiver was drawn up commercial chips are used
and for some unknown reason 4 scart pins are giving a S-video output
this output is constant .go to Media Setting-Video Signal Type use which
setting you like you always get a S-Video Output
I've connected this to two different TVs and they both work fine
the video signal must be compatible for it to work. The mini Din plug has four
pins and all have to be wired correctly to work.
I only found this out by trying to prove a point

Yes in that point you have right that is known.
But still RGB give you better picture then S-Video

Separate video, abbreviated S-Video and also known as Y/C (or erroneously, S-VHS and "super video") is an ****og video signal that carries the video data as two separate signals (brightness and color), unlike composite video which carries the entire set of signals in one signal line. S-Video, as most commonly implemented, carries high-bandwidth 480i or 576i resolution video, i.e. standard definition video. It does not carry audio on the same cable.
