motor error

i have an echostar dvr 7000 with a 'dead' motor :frown:
anybody know of any repairers in the brighton / sus*** region.

May sound silly as you probably have already checked but the most common reason for motor error is poor cable conection or blown read switch in the motor, the 36v motors in the echostar were very reliable, worth a check

I have an echostar ad3000 that is currently powering my dish and has been doing so for many years. However the dvr 7000 became available on e-bay quite cheap as it was advertised as motor not working. I am using it in my spare room from a second feed from my lnb but it would be nice to fix the motor problem whatever it might be. how can i tell if it is a reed switch problem? Is it whether or not it clicks?
Are there any 'easy' checks to identify the problem that can be fixed by an engineer.
Eurosat is an option but by the time I've posted the box and paid the 'official' agents prices it works out pretty expensive but as a last resort!

If the 3000 is moving the dish and the 7000 not the reed switch is ok as that is at the dish end, I would say it would probably be cheaper to buy a vbox2 than repair the motor in the 7000 then also if you ever get a reciever with diseqc it will run it as smooth as the echo 3000 did

if the dish moves maybe an inch or two before i get the motor error would that mean the reed sensor is ok?
