OK its a bit of a tricky one i will explain, phone belongs to a mate in work, monthly payments are made from his girlfriends account.
they have now split up he offered to transfer the payments to himself to carry it on,but being a woman she was having none of it,he phoned them but they will not deal with him as its in here name.
her is were the problem begins she has either reported the phone stolen or lost, they have given here a new Sim and phone so she now has his number.
the phone has now been locked and does not seem to accept the unlock codes can they totally lock the phone if she did report it lost/stolen,cheers.

They cannot totally lock it up. They can bar it from making / receiving calls though. If the phone is unlocked, then it will work abroad. If you / he / she has tried to enter unlocking codes and got them wrong 3 times then the counter in the phone will not allow it to be unlocked via code anymore. This used to be a problem but is easily got around with currently available hardware. Unlock it (it need be) and flog it on holiday.
