Somebody on the 'feedhunter' group has one and has confirmed it DOESN'T decode 4:2:2 unfortunately.

on the US forums most guys were 100% this would do 4:2:2 as they say it was shown doing so at the SBE 2007 show early this year. lets hope 4:2:2 could be added by a firmware update

If this the thread you are referring to it does not say what you are reporting. As far as I known the receiver in the USA does do 4.2.2

Another thread mentions the Fortec Beta as confirmed to not do 4.2.2. but this is a completely different receiver.

No, it's from the G**gle group 'feedhunter'

This is the actual text:

Hi Guys,

Got my hands on one of these receivers today..and it DOES NOT clear 422 pictures, all
you get is a black screen with sound. so save your money!!
The menus structure is awful, some of the writing is that damn small you need a magnifying glass to see!

Chris

However, the follow up posts indicate there is a 'beta' firmware being tested that enables the 4:2:2 ability as well as the blind scan for the N Americas.

So all is not lost, only time will tell if it does work eventually.

On the US forum 'Satelliteguys' the user SatelliteAV (whom I suspect is a dealer/professional) says the following;

"Initial testing of the Engineering sample of the Fortec Passion has yielded a very stable receiver. The current firmware displays PAL on the composite outputs, but the next firmware version will support NTSC output. The channel editor has not been released, yet.

The firmware update file is easily loaded via a thumb drive USB port and providing some great features:
4:2:2 - Yes
Internal Dolby decoding - Yes
AC3 Pass through - Yes
Power Scan - Yes (still in beta testing for North American Market)"

and

"The firmware is beta and not in current release. I do confirm 4:2:2 reception"

Still, it´s not money in the bank, I´d wait until this software actually materializes before spending hard earned cash!
