There is still some way to go to get this box somewhere near perfect.

I bought mine to supplement my Skystar 2 card, not to replace it. They both have their uses.

Having said that I'm pleasantly supprised by its capabilites considering the price.

Not really sure why anyone with a Dream would want this to replace it?

Had been waiting for the Dream 8000, but that keeps getting put back.

Exactly my thought too...

i got it because the dream box power supply is crap and i have to have a separate hard drive caddy with power supply to run the hard drive without problems. The technomate also has a much better tuner, and some other good points.
Have to say the firmware problem is something the dream box went through so i am not worried, it seems a good buy.:):)

I have had a hard drive in my 7000 from the day i got it home, hung a capacitor across the supply connector to aid the spin up never had a problem since day one.

Have the same problems as eme with Technomate, and was also hoping it would replace the Dreambox.

Now have to decide which one to get rid of.
