1500 CI +Super what's it like

Hi Guys
I was thinking of buying the 1500 to replace my humax CI5100.
Any advice would be good ie: the good and the bad.

i would go for the 9100 instead, then u can add a hard drive if u want and its the same price on a dark site.:D

the 1500 works fine but it limited on memory and u end up deleting channels to make room. :)

only go for the 9100 if you have a router that can be easily connected to and have good understanding of pc and better if linux.
If not go for the 1500s, its more basic but very easy to use, now has sssp so will do cs if you have the pc to conect to.
I have both they are both great but the 9100 is not plug and play, but with LOTS of time and effort does more.

same here and agreed

the tm1500 is a superb box for most ppl and is easily patched and user friendly , and I wouldnt be without mine

the tm9100 is the up and coming box and is good if you like playing around and have broadband connection , a router and can spend more time configuring it , and it can take a pata hard drive and act as a pvr

I am moving on from a tm1500 to the tm9100 but I would highly recommend the 1500 to anyone

Been reading a little about the TM 9100 but I only have USB speedtouch modem so I would after get a router (set one up before for family member so I would be OK on that I think) (192.168.1.1)/ and also I would after get one of those memory card things I could get to grips with what I have read so far (in time) I think ?

so if someone could tell me what else do you need for the memory card to work besides the TM9100 are these the camera type thing I have seen on the bay of E advertised dont think I will get one yet but if the 1500 passes away then i would get one

would this be what I would need if anything else please let me know

1 Memory thing

I think it depends on how much your into sat TV . If you want to spend time uploading images and tinkering with the reciever , then go for the 9100 . But , if your like me , you just want to switch on and watch what's available then go for the 1500 or 1600 . Sat TV has been my hobby now for well over 12 years now since the days of the D2-mac and all I want now is an easy life .Once a TM is patched , that's it , you can get nearly all that is going . Since buying my TM1500 , my Humax's are now obsolete [ F1-VACI - 5400].

I believe a router is a must-have nowadays in the new technology market , and they arent dear and can be got with some broadband packages , and older ones are very cheap on fleabay too

tm9100 ( or whatever )
a wireless router with 4 port hub
cheap ethernet cables
cheap sd card ( about £8 for a 1 gig card , like those used in a digital camera etc )
160 or 250 or bigger pata hard drive as the tm9100 acts as a pvr and records to hdd

i agree a u need a little brain power at first but the benefits out way the learning curve. a lot of people make out u have to be a master mind to use a 9100 or dreambox, i was not and find both receivers to be easily sorted even if at times u have to look up something on net. yes the 1500 is a simple as they come receiver as long as the lad knows what he’s missing and he don’t want to learn.:)

must add a m8 of 72 years old has been using it since i bought him one, he had be useing a 1500. so no i dont think things are as hard as some make outand i have never used linux yet, why should i.

unlimited channel lists, harddrive can be installed. even 300gig to recored films etc. good tuner with transponder editing etc. new keys via blue button from net have a look at the specs etc on forums.:)
